| MBB/WBB đźŹ† 2024 SEC Men's Basketball Standings: As of 2/29/24

On a different note...

I've seen different broadcasts, etc. from this area with everyone celebrating UofSC being ranked #11 in the latest AP poll. Hey, that's good for them.

I haven't seen or heard anyone mention that they are also ranked #45 in the NET. They are projected as a five seed today.

Saturday's games...

-Hardly any margin for error allowed with Bama at this point... they MUST hold serve at home.
-I still don't see auburn losing at home, but Kentucky is really that last ray of hope for it to happen. IMO, auburn only loses once more, @ Tennessee later on.
-Speaking of the Vols, they have 2 layup games on deck, then finish with 5 tough opponents. If they win the league, they'll have earned it.
-Arkansas, Missouri, and Vandy have combined for 5 league wins. That would have them barely ahead of UGA and LSU in the standings.

Caveat: I'm on my phone so I'm not going to open up a bunch of tabs to see IF I'm right.
Caveat: I hate math.
Caveat: I'm horrible at math.

That said...IF my math is correct.

Six remaining games: three on the road, three at home.

Home: UF, UT, and UArk
Road: UF, UK, and Ole Miss.

If Bama wins all three home games, and then gets one of the three road games, I believe they'll have at least a share of the SEC regular season title.

If Bama wins all three home games and picks up two of three on the road? I believe that should give Bama the title outright.

This horse isn't dead so I'll take a few shots at it against this morning.

I DO NOT want Alabama to get the two or three seed in the SECT. I'd rather have #4.

Bottom line, either way, they fulfilled my personal wish for the team this regular season: don't tip off in the tourney until Friday.

Pretty challenging schedule coming but they are playing as good as they have all year right now on both ends. I know they have been lights out at home but 2 of the 3 on paper they could drop. I hope they sweep but UF and UT are going to be a challenge on the road and even at home. Most likely would be 2-1 at home. Any road game is a challenge. I hope they go 3-0 but expect to be more likely 2-1 or 1-2.

UF and UK on the road will be really difficult especially with our D and inside game. Fortunately they have had more success than most teams on the road except for SC and Viles.

The tournaments worry me some. The physical nature of the game is ramped up during post-season, and we haven't handled physical games that well. I am good at math, but worrying about all the possibilities make my head hurt.

For now, I'm just worried about Florida.

Just looking at UF and Tn based on how they are playing. UF has been playing well and Tn handled Bama easily in Knoxville. 20 point win that was not that close. So that is what I was referring to. Unlikely sure...

The road concerns are UF and Ky,
I was just curious what you were looking at...

I was just curious what you were looking at...
I did not go as deep as your email thread evaluating UF and Ky offensive production. Purely reading the way the wind is blowing right now with who has the momentum. UF is playing well, Tn drilled us and Ky is well Ky. Even though they have had some struggles at home that usually does not last long.

With that said, Bama is probably playing as good as they have all year on both ends of the court. We will see how it turns out soon enough. Hope the good guys take care of business.

Here's the thing.

Let's say Bama blows past LSU by 20 in Tuscaloosa. A few week later they are in Baton Rouge. Do you expect a Bama win by 20?

I don't believe you can judge road games. Not in the SEC.

UT has a strong ball team. As a fan, they don't scare me.
The UF, UT and Ky stretch will be a challenge.

After today's action...

The Vols hold tiebreaker over Bama, but it doesn't really matter since they meet again soon enough and it'll all get sorted out, assuming all things remain equal...

Saturday's games...

-Obviously, the biggie is the Vols at Bama... Winner takes the SEC lead out of turn 4.

-It's unlikely that auburn loses another SEC game... would be nice though if they got passed up and slipped to the #5 seed for the SEC Tournament. Best chance for that to happen though without Bama getting hurt by it (i.e. Florida winning out), would be Kentucky winning out... but they finish with the Vols in Knoxville.

-Florida at South Carolina should be a good one...

Bama still has to go to Florida ...n host Arkansas

Tennessee still has to go to USCe....and host KY

Tournament should be good

As of today, Bama would play the winner of the A&M v MSU game: Friday at 7CT. (IF Bama remains at #2, they'll play in that time slot regardless.)

Here's where I hate the shorter turnaround.

Again, as of today...IF Bama wins that quarterfinal game Friday they'll likely be looking at UofSC or UK.

Florida might be a fun team to watch ...

They'd open with the winner of UArk and Vandy. (What, four, five wins combined?) Then face Auburn ... who have a SECT record that Auburn fans don't want to discuss.
