🏈 GAME THREAD 2020-2021 CFB Playoffs and Bowl Games

Considering Liberty was 2-1 against P5 schools I don't see that as a question. That's a 9-1 team getting a shot at a G5 school who happens to be ranked this season. (If you recall that loss to NC State was by a point and they were a failed two point conversion attempt away from going to OT with a few minutes left in the game. Literally, played them head to head.)

It's interesting listening to the talk about a G5 playoff. I'm all for the separation and found this to be pretty similar to what we see in P5. Two teams, clearly better than the crowd, and the next level down is a touchdown dog, or more.

  1. Cincy
  2. Coastal
  3. BYU
  4. Louisiana.
We'd be looking at Cincy -9, give or take a point, versus Louisiana. It would be about the same for BYU vs Coastal. If we go with the chalk that Cincy vs BYU game would have Cincy with about half of a point maybe as high as a point and a half.

that aint gonna happen...the group of 5 playoff...
No way are theygonna get intothe 1-A and 1-AA situation again...

they will sit back...wait for expansion of CFP....
And be happy with their 1 team in a year

I actually like that idea as well. I wouldn't even mind a Play-In game to the CFP for the little guys if their records are deserving. Top 2 play for a spot in the Playoffs, if it moved to 8 games of course. I still don't like an 8 team playoff, but I also don't like the idea of the little guy never getting a shot. Hell, Coastal won the College World Series a few years back, so anything can happen on the field. play in spot for the little guys so they can get their shot at the big dogs. Those guys don't worker any less harder than our guys, so they deserve a shot if they have a season like they are having now.

In recent NCAA news and decisions they are already referring to teams in the Autonomous Five. If the two split, as they should, we will see a FCS type playoff. There are already a lot of G5 coaches that want the separation and we already know what the majority of the P5 coaches feel about this whole thing.

And, I'll add one thing here. IF they were at eight teams this season and IF they had a rule that required a G5 we'd see Cincinnati this season. If you think given the current rankings they'd have Cincy facing Bama (#8 vs #1 seed) versus Georgia, or Iowa State, or even Indiana...ain't happening.

You and I? We're back to where were in another discussion a few weeks ago: the differences between an Alabama football fan and a college football fan. The latter knows, with no doubt, Cincy doesn't belong on the same field as Bama, or Notre Dame, or Ohio State, or Clemson, or A&M, or ...

But hey, there's nothing wrong with being a FOG. There's a lot of you out there.

Say what you will about David Pollack and his analysis; some good, some bad, some odd takes. However, he's the first one I've heard mention the same thing I did a few days ago when comparing TL to DJJ for Clemson; Lawrence doesn't hit the middle of the field with his passes. Rarely do we see them hitting the seams: it's a passing attack that is outside the hash marks.

I'm of the opinion, like a lot of others, this is a two team race with Clemson and Bama. I know this isn't the Clemson teams we've seen over the last few seasons.

Agree about the two team race. No surprise. I do think ND could be more problematic than most give them credit if we do not take them serious. Yeah I know your thinking that is what you say about every team and I would agree with that but why stop now?

I have not watched Clemson play much this year so not really sure about their D. I assume they are good but really do not know. This years bama team strength as you know is the offense. Does Clemson have enough on D to slow this machine down so their offense can keep it close? I really suspect Clemson is the only team that might can do so.

Mentioned over in the Sportsbook thread were Marshall's tendencies coming off a loss and how they've done in bowl games. The last I looked, the total is remaining pretty constant ... on the over.
