🏀 2018 NCAA Tournament: Villanova wins National Championship

The fall of the PAC-12:

With Arizona's loss to Buffalo, the Pac-12 has officially made history. (Not the good kind.) Per ESPN Stats and Info, no major conference has failed to send a team to the round of 32 since the formation of the Big 12 in 1996-97. The 2018 Pac-12 is the first of its kind.

That sure was a piece of history we got a look at last night. A 16 seed has never made it to the second round, ever. You would have at least thought if it did happen it would be on some crazy, illogical, buzzer beater type play that would be replayed for decades. Nope, that was thorough and convincingly a beatdown in the second half.

I usually have little empathy for the big boys at the top of the food chain, and in this tourney, we relish it, but last night had to be the worst thing that has ever happened to a college basketball team. Nowhere to run or hide. It will always be brought up and no matter what Virginia accomplishes in the future they will always be associated with this monumental catastrophe. And maybe worst of all, goes by the unsightly handle, UMBC, ugh! That just ain't right.

Virginia’s defense did not travel very far, nor well.
