🏈 GAME THREAD 2016 National Championship Game

This game is very intriguing. Most average football watchers believe this game is just picking up where the last championship left off. But the dynamics have changed a lot.

Just the changes in coordinators (Sark and Pruitt) gives a different team look. Last year, Coach Smart's "mush rush" was an attempt to contain Watson late in the game and reduce the deep throws. He still escaped and made huge plays. Pruitt seems to be far more aggressive since we have more successful edge rushing this year. This will probably contain Watson and rush more of his throws but the 'man' coverage with Williams, Cain, Scott and Renfro could take the top off our secondary a few times. Sark is a wild card.

This could be a needed spark to move the ball in a way we haven't seen this year. I'm excited!

We've talked about TV market's in relation to the SEC expanding.
We've also talked about the talent Dabo has assembled at Clemson.

Bit of an update:

Just noticed Hannah Storm has a interview scheduled to air at Noon on ESPN2 ... sit down kind of thing with Saban and Swinney ... hour long.

The game is entirely on Hurts. If they get in his head and shut his confidence down like Washington, it's trouble early. If Sark gets him comfortable and we're getting first downs consistently, it'll be relatively smooth sailing from there.

I'm predicting a bend but don't break game for both defenses. I think both DCs almost prefer defending in the redzone. Think about it. If you're Clemson, you want to load the box (take the run away) and force Hurts to beat you with an accurate throw in tight windows. If you're Bama, you want to minimize the harm from all of Clemson's skill players (3 WRs, TE, and RB Gallman), so you reduce the amount of grass to defend.

Simply put, this could come down to a game between field goal kickers. :doh2:

62-63 PATs and 20-27 FGs versus 66-68 PATs and 14-19 FGs.
Who do you want?
