1966 was the year before I was born but have read many accounts of this team and why people thought we deserved the National title then, especially that defense!

1977 was the first season I remember the Tide getting the "treatment" from the media when they leap-frogged Notre Dame over Alabama after BAMA whooped Ohio St 35-6. (ND beat Texas who was #1 at the time) BAMA had previously lost to Nebraska in the 2nd game that year and Notre Dame lost to Ole Miss a team BAMA manhandled in week 1 of that season.

That 2016 Team is the it for me. They had the NCAA record for non-offensive TD's. It's a damn shame that team couldn't beat Clemson.

Bama was robbed of a couple of NC's by losing to the hated Domers in the 70's (was it the 73 team that lost 24-23?). Those would be on the list also. But basically for teams I can remember it would be 77 and 2016. Of course I read a lot about the 66 team and how it got robbed

The 1980 team was good, but our QB shit the bed twice vs Miss State and Notre Dame. I wish Bama could have had a shot at #34 and the Dawgs.

There was a void after Steadman took them to that big trophy in 79.

Hell, I went to both. That was a long ride back to Montgomery from Jackson.
