🏈 2009 Football Schedule: This is the official release....

It will be a tough year at BDS as always. However our fans and the crowd have made some impact on home games this year. I expect it to be even greater next year. RTR!

Do coaches decide on when to have a BYE week or is it just the way schedules fall in place each year? I see the Barn put theirs the week before us as usual. Looking at our schedule I'd rather have our BYE week before UT and then make that hard 2nd half season run.

Ole Miss. I had that one circled at the beginning of this season and most people I knew were not nearly as worried. Nutt always concerns me with his crazy schemes and usually good D's. He will build a strong house there IMO. Should be one of the West deciders next year.

Maybe I'm not seein' it. The entire schecule looks favorable to me. Ole Miss will be the game unless the hatter does something to turn it around at LSU. The rest looks kind of gravy.

I'm afraid the non conference schedule could come back to hurt us if we are in the running at the end next year.

isn't ole miss loosing more of their interior than we are?.. i really don't look for them to be very strong next year.. i think auburn will be the team to resurface.. i know they have more talent than ole miss on their roster.. still no match to the tide though..

I dont think having weaker opponents should hurt us. Look at USC and Ohio State and some other teams. They play weak schedules and tend to make it their a lot. Us playing in an SEC championship game will even it out every year in my opinion. Since they dont have to play a championship game which is BS.

the fact that we are playing a likely preseason top ten team and ACC champ ought to sufficiently compensate for our other nonconference opponents.
there aren't many BCS teams that are going out of their conference to play a BCS conference champion.

Ole Miss is losses three on their OL, their left tackle and two guards. The same thing was said about Ole Miss before this season and too no avail I tried to point out they were the team to watch.

The same goes for this year.

Auburn has more talent that Ole Miss on their roster? I'd put them in the same tier. The team I thought would go 4-4 in conference play, but I gave AU too much credit, will look to be about .500 in conference play again this upcoming season. 8-4, at best.

.

SEC office decision to start, then the Ath. Dept fills in OOC games.

Our off week, mid-season, comes 2 weeks later than this past season but we are starting the season a week later than we did last year as well.

Technically, we are starting the season later this year as well...the 5th vs the 30th this year.

I continue to see this and still wonder where on earth it comes from.

Do you think, Florida as example, will be left out of the NC picture if they run through their schedule next season including the SECCG? I'd bet, you'd say no.

But, they play a schedule that is almost identical to ours.

Charleston Southern (Big South)
Florida International (as we do- Sun Belt)
Troy (Sun Belt)

We play:

UT Chattanooga (Southern Conference)
Florida International (see above)
North Texas (Sun Belt)

Both team plays ACC teams, Va Tech for Bama and FSU for UF.

SEC:

UT, UK, LSU, Arkansas, Georgia, Vandy, Mississippi State, South Carolina for UF.

We don't play UGA, but we do have Ole Miss, Auburn, MSU, UT, South Carolina, UK, Arkansas, and LSU.

Where's the difference?

Bottom line, if we take care of business, the OOC schedule won't have a bearing on the outcome of the season.

The ONLY way it would, is if we started out ranked outside of the top two teams (both from BCS conferences) and both of those team remained undefeated throughout their seasons. Then, there may be a subject for concern.

The chances of that happening? Not great enough to complain about our OOC.

The fact is, if we play a good OOC team once a year, three "gimme" games won't have a bearing.

Aubrun has had a week off before Bama every year, it seems like forever....

I prefer to see at least a couple weeks off during the season. It helped a lot this last season. Hopefully wity depth filling up this will not be as big of an issue as the last two years.

They did in '07 and '08, but didn't for a good 10+ years in a row before that.
