Sporting News Magazine Features All-Access with Alabama

SN photographer Bob Leverone spent five days with Alabama's Crimson Tide

Nov. 18, 2008

The Sporting News magazine that hits newsstands later this week features an all-access pictorial with college football's No. 1 team.

SN photographer Bob Leverone spent five days with Alabama's Crimson Tide, starting on a Wednesday with coach Nick Saban's evening press conference and ending on Sunday after breakfast with a recruit in Saban's home.

Thursday: SN attended a coaches meeting, tagged along as defensive back Ali Sharrief mentored grade schoolers, strolled past Denny Chimes with captains Antoine Caldwell and Rashad Johnson and took in a practice with the Tide -- everything from ankle taping to Saban's post-practice talk.

Friday: SN went out to breakfast with quarterback John Parker Wilson and his dad, then stuck around for the team supper at Hotel Capstone and the performance of the Million Dollar Band at a night-time pep rally.

Saturday: SN captured the Bryant-Denny gameday experience -- everything from the Walk of Champions to Saban's postgame locker room speech, which followed a 35-0 win over Arkansas State.

The eight-page package includes 31 photographs, plus the magazine cover. Dozens more will be featured Friday in Sporting News Today, the nation's first digital daily sports newspaper, and on sportingnews.com.

In the state of Alabama, Sporting News magazine can be purchased at Books-A-Million, Bruno's and Wal-Mart.
