CNS in his press conference today hit it right on the head. It means nothing except you might have a chance. The only reason it's done is to give the press something to write about and ask questions about.

Coach Saban is right, they really don't mean anything. However, they mean something to the players. There is a video floating around of the Alabama players watching the initial playoff rankings show and going absolutely nuts when Bama was called out at 4. Their reaction was similar to winning the championship. So true, the rankings truly may not mean anything. But it still doesn't mean they don't have an impact on the players. A lot of what Coach Saban says to the public is for PR purposes only. Much like Bill Belichick. Much like he refused to acknowledge or admit that leading into the Tennessee game our guys were tired. But two days later in one of his press conferences mentioned them being tired, banged up and needing a break.
