The University of Texas will charge the Texas Tech marching band, known as the Goin’ Band, for the price of admission when the Red Raiders visit the Longhorns on Nov. 26, reports Aaron Dickens of RedRaiderSports.com.
The Texas Tech band will have to pay $100 per member. This game marks the first time that the Texas athletic department has charged the Goin’ Band.
Though the annual game between Texas and Texas Tech has never included a fee to put a band in the rival stands, the practice is not completely unheard of. The Red Raider band has been charged up to $60 per member for game attendance in the past, Dickens reports.
The rivalry between the Longhorns and Red Raiders has been historically lopsided towards the school from Austin. Even with Texas slumping in recent years, Texas Tech has managed only two wins since 1999.
Last season, the Longhorns took down the Red Raiders 34–13, bringing their all-time head-to-head record to 49–15
