🏈 Yahoo Claims DJ Fluker Received Extra Benefits

When the stuff with Bush went down, USC didn't have to vacate their NC's so I wouldn't think we would. The official wins and losses will change and of course the sanctions if they can prove it. :icon_evil:

"The identities of these players were revealed in a web of financial and text message records belonging to former Crimson Tide defensive end Luther Davis. The records were turned over to Yahoo Sports by a source with ties to the NFL agent community who alleged that Davis was acting as an intermediary between several high-profile college football stars and multiple NFL agents and financial advisers.

Davis declined to comment for this story. However, Yahoo Sports was able to authenticate text message records, Western Union fund transfers, banking statements, flight receipts and other financial material linking both Davis and the five college football players. Yahoo Sports also found that three NFL agents and three financial advisers engaged Davis in transactions totaling $45,550. The three agents were Andy Simms, Peter Schaffer and John Phillips. The financial advisers were Jason Jernigan, Mike Rowan and Hodge Brahmbhatt."

Geeez, really?!?! And the timing is just lovely isn't it?

OK does it help at all that at this point Alabama coaches, staff, officials, boosters don't seem to be involved?

It just seems really separated from the actual program. But again, one player can ruin it all .. If its true .. dang. I know the allure of money is great when you can provide for your family and whatnot but when you risk potentially screwing over your teammates, coaches, fans, alma mater, championships .. Just doesn't seem worth it.

@BarrettSallee: Bama AD Bill Battle: “We have been aware of some of the allegations in today's story and our compliance department was looking into this situation prior to being notified that this story was actually going to be published. Our review is ongoing. We diligently educate our SAs on maintaining compliance with NCAA rules, and will continue to do so."

Unless I misread the article, this took place during 2012-2013. The early 2012 issues involving Fluker's mother probably won't stick. the 2011 NC seems secure. Th wins in 2012 might be vacated, considering the USC op[recedent, but it would be up to the BCS (not the NCAA) regarding any action about the last crystal football. Definitely not good, but Yahoo may well have violated some laws regarding phone records. Unless this is just the tip of the iceberg I don't see the hammer coming down the way it did on USC.

Luther Davis has just made himself persona non grata around Alabama football.

Luther? If the allegations are true, Fluker should be at the top of the list. If Luther solicited him, he didn't have to say yes. Both are at fault.

Gosh I hope you are right. I love that this story broke THIS week. Timing is awfully convenient. Waiting for Nick's press conference now. I doubt he will say too much on the matter.
