šŸ’¬ Wrestling

I'm a huge wrestling fan but I'd rather gauge my eyes out than watch this nonsense.

I've got to think that wrasslin' is on the decline due to the rise of UFC. Fake vs. bone chilling reality is gonna lose most times.

Well, yes and no. WWE has been on the decline in terms of audience attendance and ratings (and quality, which is at an all-time low right now) BUT they just signed a multi billion dollar deal with Fox and another one with USA Network, have around 2 million subscribers to their network ($10 per month) and ticket prices are probably four times what they were even six years ago (part of why their attendance is so low for live events) and even despite that they have 40,000+ at the really big shows (WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, etc.) just based on the brand name.

And on the other side, wrestling is a boom period for the smaller promotions, with even small shows getting nice sized crowds and multiple smaller promotions popping up and doing great. The Jacksonville Jaguars owner and his son just created a new one that is already making waves and they've only done one show.

IMO, UFC will be in a similar position of WWE in a few years. Still making money but they've damaged themselves so much with the fans that smaller promotions are going to popping up more and more signing away some of their talent plus really good young fighters. So, while they still will always make their money, its gonna open up the opportunity for others to make good money, too.
