Sure, they can, but power rankings and composite talent rankings still show Vandy ranked thirty to fifty spots ahead.

That being said, FSU and GaTech are now ranked 22 spots closer than they were last week, and FSU is still ranked 21 spots ahead of them. Hard to believe FSU - in ESPN's eyes - only fell six spots. They're lucky there's no poll this week.

Looking at these two teams had me digging a bit, and I did a little conference breakout. I know the ESPN Power Rankings may mean garbage in, garbage out, but a few quick calculations on the P3 and Big 12. Big 12 compares favorably in average ranking because they're all middle of the pack - what used to be considered a mid-major. Big 10 has some at the top, and then mostly bad teams.

If i was betting on game. I would take wku.
Just because they arent p4 team. A lot of these g5 teams are pretty good. Nobody would say vandy is pretty good

Phil Steele's Power Poll has Vanderbilt at #96 and WKU at #97. Couldn't help but notice that he had two teams that play Thursday (8/29) night just above them. Coastal Carolina at #94 and Jax State at #95.
