AUBURN, Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team will open play at the 2019 NCAA Women's Golf Auburn Regional on Monday morning when it tees off at 8:50 a.m. CT off Hole No. 10. The No. 36/38 (Listed as Golfweek Coaches Poll/Golfstat) Alabama women's golf team earned the No. 10 seed in this year's regional, which will be held on the par 72, 6,371-yard Saugahatchee Country Club in Auburn/Opelika, Ala., and hosted by Auburn University on May 6-8.

The Crimson Tide's starting five for regional play will remain the same as it has for the last three spring tournaments, which will feature juniors Jiwon Jeon and Kenzie Wright, sophomore Angelica Moresco, along with freshmen Mary Mac Trammell and Anna Reid.

Jeon, who has skyrocketed into the top-15 on the Annika Award Watch List this spring, headlines Alabama's lineup. The junior boasts a first-place victory at the Schooner Fall Classic and three of top-10 finishes in her nine tournaments, including a fifth-place result at the SEC Championships in late April. She was also a participant in the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur held earlier this month. She enters NCAA play ranked No. 7 in the country and is No. 9 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), while boasting a team-leading 71.57 per round stroke average.

Moresco, ranked No. 52 in the nation entering tournament play this week, is second on the team in stroke average (73.13) and average vs. par (+1.52). Meanwhile, Wright is third in stroke average (73.22) and average vs. par (+1.61).

Regional Format: The top six finishing teams at the Auburn Regional, along with the top three individuals who are not members of those squads, will advance to the 2019 NCAA Women's Golf Championships, which will take place May 17-22 at University of Arkansas at the Blessings Golf Club, in Fayetteville, Ark.

Alabama at the NCAA Regionals: This will be Alabama's 21st regional appearance and the 14th under head coach Mic Potter. The Crimson Tide has competed in an NCAA Regional in all 14 seasons under Potter and advanced to the NCAA Championships in its 13 previous appearances. The Tide captured regional titles in 2011 (Daytona Beach, Fla.), 2013 (Auburn, Ala.), 2017 (Athens, Ga.) and 2018 (Tallahassee, Fla.). This will be Potter's 27th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance as a head coach. He led Furman to 13 straight trips from 1993-2005 and has qualified a team in every season the regional format has been a part of the NCAA postseason.

Auburn Regional Field: Joining the Crimson Tide at the 18-team Auburn Regional is No. 1 seed Duke, who enters the event ranked No. 3 in the country, followed by Vanderbilt, ranked No. 6 nationally, as the No. 2 seed. Florida State, the 11th-ranked team in the nation, is the No. 3 seed, while tournament-host and No. 13-ranked Auburn earned the No. 4 position. The rest of the field includes No. 5 Virginia, No. 6 Furman, No. 7 Clemson, No. 8 Houston, No. 9 Kennesaw State, No. 10 Alabama, No. 11 Tennessee, No. 12 Cal, No. 13 Maryland, No. 14 East Carolina, No. 15 Denver, No. 16 South Alabama, No. 17 Albany and No. 18 Murray State.

They are toast. Currently in 11th place with 2/3 of the teams finished for the day. they had a worse day today than yesterday. They are currently 26 back from the leader, Vandy and 12 back from 6th place. Only the top 6 advance to the Nationals.

Oh well, maybe next year.
