🏈 With hindsight being 20/20, who do you have as Bama's head coach (in their prime years.) Stoops, or

I was young while Coach Stallings roamed, but aftet hearing stories, reading books, and seeing documentaries, Stallings is my choice due to much higher character. He had Coach Bryant in him and expected much more than Stoops. Stoops had a good run in a half ass conference. Look at all that yellow with minimum orange. Coach Saban doesnt have that much yellow, but way more orange if you're catching my drift about competition.

Too many years of publicly popping off for me and he was big game bob only in title. Stallings coached Bama when the east became the beast in the conference. With Fulmer doing his best to frame mischief and Spurrier having his best teams, it was going to be difficult for Alabama to navigate more wins either way.

Quick story to highlight your comment about Coach Bryant being in Coach Stallings. It was Coach Stallings first meeting with the team. Now, I had grown up watching the Coach Bryant Show on Sundays so I had that mans gravelly voice etched in my brain. Coach Stallings walked in and asked for us to all take a seat. People think Elvis Presley is still alive. I could have sworn that was Coach Bryant asking us to take a seat! I sat in that meeting in a fog for the next 35 minutes thinking that this "must have been what it was like to have that first meeting of the year with Coach Bryant all those years ago!" I love Coach Stallings to death and would do anything for the man!

When it comes to some coaches, like Stallings, who are just 'larger than life,' the last sentence says it all. Most players are fond of their coaches, and, while playing for them, may say that they would do anything for them. The camaraderie with teammates and the desire to win can do that. For uagrad93, whoever he really is, to say that now, after all these years, speaks to the love and admiration, and respect, that Stallings earned as a coach. Roll Tide!

I'm just an average Joe. I walked on at UA because that was my dream. My love and admiration for Coach Stallings stems from the fact that he took the time to learn about my family and myself while I was in the team. A few years after he retired, he was doing a calendar signing in B'ham and my wife thought it would be a good stocking stuffer for me for Christmas. She told him that the calendar was for me and that I had been a walk on QB for him his first year. He asked her my first name and he responded with my last name! He spent the next 10-15 minutes talking with her. Several years later, Coach spoke at one of CNS' Spring clinics. We talked for a good 10-15 minutes with him asking about my parents and then my own little family. This is why I love the man as much as I do!!
