After the comments from Saban about having to call 2 times outs to get him to pass. Do you think the he will stay or go after the season.

I do not. Look at how well McElroy has played this year. McElwain is also the QB coach and a heck of a good one, at that. Look at what he did for JPW last year.

I haven't heard anything that would prove otherwise. McElwain was playing to our strengths running the ball.

I hear ya. It just concerned me a little in Saban's presser after the game. He looked mad and I thought to my self, well there goes another OC.

Money talks....I think he would leave for a head coaching position somewhere if he wanted that....Cincy maybe ??? Virginia ??? etc.. Alot of schools are gonna be huntin a coach.....and the OC on an undefeated Saban team could get alot of attention......I dont think Saban get rid of him though.

If McElwain leaves, its probably because he got a job as a headcoach somewhere. His iname is among lists and he almost got another job last year supposedly. Like rammerjammer said, he is a good QB coach.

Saban is probably not going to get rid of him, and if he does go I am sure offensive coordinators would line up from here to Canada for a chance to coach the talent here. And im confident Saban would choose a good one.

So either way is not the end of the world, if he stays that another year we do without OC musical chairs. If he leaves for another job, its a chance to get someone more aggressive.

I have no inside info, but I sense a change is not out of the realm of possibility at some point. From everything I have read and see on the sideline, Saban has jumped on McElwain's case more than once this year about various things.......I don't blame Saban. Even though we are undefeated(which I am thankful for), we have the tools to be a more productive team on the offensive side of the ball.

I'll give Saban credit, he seems to really be trying to open up the offense. But he seems to be having trouble getting the right OC to fit what he wants. I would not be upset if McElwain left for another career opportunity. But thats just my view.

Im fairly sure he said that ALL the other coaches (not just McElwain) wanted to run the ball and he wanted to pass it.

While I don't want to think about the what-if scenario, that pass to Upchurch might have floated or been tipped, and then what? Big gamble to take there, CNS.

McElwain certainly has the tendency to get very, very predictable at times. But he sprinkles in just enough variety to keep opposing defenses at bay. That is critical. We will pull out all the stops against UF, much in the way Auburn did us. I expect Florida to use their different variations of "Tebow over the Guard" to keep us at bay.

Man, this game is going to come down to a turnover, I just know it. I like our chances. UF seems far more capable of that fumble or INT than we do. They have been rolling along for several weeks now, and we had to fight for our lives against LSU. Of course, we dusted State and Chattanooga, as expected. I like that we are underdogs. There are a lot of reasons to believe McElwain and the CNS can cook up a game winning formula!

Exiledfan, I believe the pass happened on third down. Only an INT wouldve lost, an incompletion and we still probably kick the FG. Saban isnt THAT much of a daredevil.

1:25 and no time outs to kick a gamewinning fg > 1:27 with 1 timeout needing a td, less pressure on Defense.

And I like it when we trust McElroy with the ball.

This is a difficult one for me to gage. For the most part I agree with you.

Playing for the FG on Sat. gets us beat, and the one thing Saban said he wanted to do recently is come out aggressive. Play to win not to prevent the loss. I don't agree with the call to run there on 3rd down. I also don't agree with the calls to keep running MI up the middle continuously and the lack of spreading the field. I didn't like the QB draw when it was run. I could go on and on. Then again, I love the screens to TR down on 2 drives within the 30. I love the pass to a wide open Colin Peek. I love the pass from MI to Julio (even though it didn't work as planned). So, I guess I see myself that I'm not going to agree with everything.

The only real issue I have is the play to win mentality. Forget the stinkin' FG on a drive like that! If Saban can strongly communicate that and use his veto power when needed I guess we'll be alright. After all, that's why he makes 4 million and McElwain doesn't.

That said, I'm not going to worry about McElwain leaving or staying. It certainly won't kill Alabama football if he leaves, and he certainly won't kill Alabama football if he stays. For once I won't worry one bit about a coach leaving or staying.:smile:

You are right. I think we went 12-0 last year, (JMac's first year). It is Saban's offense with the OC's twist put on it. I think Saban said that when McElwain came that 70% of the O stayed the same. JMac added about 30% and went from there. If someone else were to come in, unless he is a heck of a salesman, I expect about the same. I agree, no matter what, we will be fine.

We should scrap those QB draws though. McElroy cant run, even when it works, I dont like putting him in position to get hit.
