| FTBL Why we can't find a new QB...

I think one thing we need to keep in mind is the team is competing against each other. The defense KNOWS what the offense is about to do. That is why defenses are usually way ahead of the offenses in camp. I think we'll be fine at QB because I get the feeling we are going to be a more run oriented team this season much like were back in 2009.

I think you're spot on. I don't know how our coaches can get a good "read" on what a QB can do when going only against arguably the best defense in the nation. I'd like the coaches to have the QBs go against the defense 2's once in a while to see if problems the QBs are having are due to the high quality defense or if the problems are self inflicted.

All of the records are at the rolltide.com website, choose football and then along the top look at the "more info" pull down and the record book choice is there in a web form. The pdf of The Book is also available under the "Archives" choice under "more info", along with details of every season. I'm a history buff and a sadistics, I mean statistics, guy so I love these sections.

Thanks. Looks like the 2013 one was posted 9/20/2013, so hopefully the updated one will be coming out in less than a month.

Some people have called me a "blake hater"
I love Blake Sims. I thought he had a great heart and competitive spirit, but he didn't have IT.
Don't give me meaningless stats. Anyone who watched the Florida game and the Arkansas game knows that Blake was either really on, or really horrendous. He WAS wildly inconsistent. He threw 3 picks in the Iron Bowl, and then played lights out and got us the come from behind win.
I'm fine with last season. We won the SEC. But we also lost to OSU when we could've easily won. Our offense had multiple opportunities to win the game, and sputtered in the most crucial moments. You can blame the defense, but when our offense needed to score, with great field position, they couldn't get it done, and Blake Sims missed some WIDE open easy throws. I said from the very beginning that Sims couldn't take us all the way, and I was right.
I said that perhaps Coker could, and supposedly Nick Saban felt the same way. In the end Kiffin chose Sims, and we had a great season with lots of fun moments provided by Sims.

Come again?

IMO, too many fans want the All-American, #1 draft choice QB who wins games on his own. That kind of QB makes the offense too one-dimensional. I like the fact that we have multiple high quality QBs. If whoever our #1 QB is, if he were to go down we shouldn't have a large drop off of production. Does anybody remember when Croyle went down?

A QB will soon rise to the top. There's a lot of pressure for everyone of them to perform in front of Saban and up to Saban's expectations. Be calm. Have faith.

Exactly! IIRC, Homer Smith took Gary Hollingsworth and made him SEC Player of the Year. I am not too concerned about what Lane Kiffin will do with whomever they choose.

I believe that this year's QB will make you long for the Blake Sims' days.

I don't understand the need for having a QB that's drafted #1 at Bama. Do the people that have this desire like the NFL more than Bama football? Because I don't. I couldn't care less about the fucking No Fun League. I love Alabama football. I want them to win every game. Neither Manning Bro won a national title. Both have Super Bowls. Have those Super Bowl victories helped their Alma Mater at all? Blake helped Bama. He's the Dark Knight. Not what we wanted but what we needed. AJ was Kick6 from a 3peat. GMac slayed Goliath in 2009 SECCG. JPW made us believe again. From his 2007 Arkansas game winning TD pass to his undefeated regular 2008 season which included the Blackout and him telling the LSU fans to "call me". He just unfortunately got Tebow'd.
Each of these fellas did more for Bama than either of the Manning bros and I wouldn't trade any of the ones we have now.
