Alabama and Florida appear to be on a collision course in the SEC Championship game later this month. The Crimson Tide appear unstoppable and are ranked No. 1 overall in the College Football Playoff rankings while Florida got hot after an early season loss and rank No. 6 in the country.

Based on the offenses on both sides, Kyle Trask and the Gators against Mac Jones and the Crimson Tide is like a prize fight. However, the winner of the game is likely to come down to who can make the final stop with their defense considering the skill level on both sides.

On Thursday night, former coach and current analyst Houston Nutt explained why Florida has a good chance against Alabama.

“Without a doubt, Kyle Trask,” Nutt said during halftime of the Air Force-Utah State game. “He's been something else. 34 touchdown passes and still counting. The receivers he has around him and the weapons he has. He's so accurate and he can throw every ball, the deep ball, the intermediate, the soft touch, the quick screens. He doesn't miss. And the defense, giving up a lot early. If you look at the Ole Miss game, Texas A&M game over 500 to 600 yards, it's different lately. Not giving up as much and their defense is taking the ball away. They have 13 takeaways. But what makes Florida go? Kyle Trask.”

If they get it done, it’ll be on the arm of Trask and the hands of star tight end Kyle Pitts. On the season, Trask leads college football among quarterbacks and is the current Heisman favorite. Trask is 195 of 273 passing (71.4% completion percentage) for 2,810 yards, 34 touchdowns and three interceptions.

His star tight end, Pitts, has 29 catches for 513 yards and 11 touchdowns in just six games. Last year, in 13 games, Pitts had 54 catches for 649 yards and five touchdowns.

Former Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard took to Twitter to shout Pitts out. Howard called Pitts the most unique player in college football and definitely Heisman-worthy.

“The @GatorsFB TE, Kyle Pitts is the most unique player in college football. More than the QBs at Clemson, Alabama and the one that throws him the ball. #Heisman worthy,” Howard tweeted.

During halftime of the game between TCU and Kansas on FOX Sports, former Ohio State and Florida head coach Urban Meyer discussed the level of success Pitts is having this year. Meyer compared him to Chase Young, Washington Football Team's star rookie defensive end and a former Buckeye. According to the legendary Florida coach, Pitts is similar to Young in that he is by far the most dominant player at his position in the entire country.

“I think, Rob, he’s arguably the most dominant player in college football," Meyer said. "He’s the Chase Young of 2020.”

One thing Florida has over Bama would be their ball distribution. Bama has 4 guys with 200+ yards receiving this year, 5 who have a receiving TD, and 3 with more than one receiving TD. Florida has 6 with over 200 yards, 10 with at least one receiving TD, and 5 with more than 1 TD. On the other hand, Florida is absolutely no threat to run the ball. Their single game leader went for 69 yards against Arkansas. Bama's 1,2 and 3 guys have each went over that at least once and Najee only has one game below it (A&M).

Ok. I will watch now...thanks

Uhhhhh....but you have to stop our offense. They haven't stopped anyone all year except a broke down Georgia team. Can have all of the offense you want, but your defense has to make a play as well in efforts of giving you the chance to score just one more time over an opponent. Not saying we score on every drive, but I dang sure know they won't be scoring on us every drive.

I think this is a game where you try and get up and then start running on them. Grind them down and keep Trask on the sideline watching his defense struggle. We should be able to do that somewhere in the 3rd quarter, IMO.

Alabama allows 389.2 yards per game and a total of 16 offensive TD. That is good for 47th and 29th overall (all teams included so a lot of 2-3 game teams ahead of us). Passing allowed is 260.3 ypg and 10 TD. Rushing allowed is 128.8 ypg and 6 TD.

Florida allows 411.3 yards per game and a total of 22 offensive TD. That makes them 62nd and 40th overall. Passing allowed is 260.5 ypg and 12 TD. Rushing is 150.8 ypg and 10 TD.

Offensive stats for passing are comparable on yardage at Bama 380.0 and Florida 371.1 ypg, but Florida has 29 TD to Bama's 16. Rushing Bama is 175.2 ypg and 18 TD and Florida is 140 ypg and 5 TD. Flat out, most of the rushing for Florida is very late in the game in a couple of games. Overall, Bama averages 555.2 ypg wit a total of 35 TD while Florida averages 511.1 with a total of 34 TD.

Florida is badly unbalanced. They will score, but I think Trask gets shown up in the game. Badly.
