🏈 Why does our offense typically suck in the 3rd quarter? (Not just last night)

Does anyone have a points for/points against stat on the year that is broken down by quarter? I know CBS has shown our 1st quarter numbers and we absolutely own the 1st quarter. I'd like to see it for the 3rd quarter.

Is there any reason why our offense goes to crap for the 3rd quarter? I wasn't just last night either. I feel like this happened frequently under McElwain too.

I've noticed that too. Just a theory, but we are usually comfortably ahead at half time - as we were last night (14-3) - and perhaps they just don't have the urgency they need to start the second half. That needs to change to run out the year for sure.

I dont know what the deal was with us kind of going away from the run in the 2nd half, we had I believe two drives where we had 3 straight passes, 3 and out. Then, we had that drive that resulted in the fumble where we ran it every single play and Yeldon/Lacy were GASHING them. I believe we averaged nearly 8 yards a carry between Lacy & Yeldons 22 carries.

Had a third and four on the first possession with an incomplete pass following a Lacy run.

Second possession had a 2 and 16 following Lacy losing six on the carry. He got over half back on the second down but had an incomplete on a 3rd and 5.

The Yeldon/McCarron fumble was the last drive of the third and seven minutes of the 15 where on LSU's scoring drive.

Slightly different note here: That drive in the 3rd was clear reason to see why we were recruiting Jeremy Hill despite his legal issues.

The For/Against for Bama in the 3rd is 34/24. That said if you throw out the highest and lowest, and average those across the remaining 7 games, Alabama outscores it's opponents 2.9 to 2.4 points per game in the 3rd quarter.
Out of 9 games, Alabama has been blanked 4 times in the 3rd.
For 6 of the 9 games, Alabama has scored a combined 6 points.
In 5 of the games, Alabama's opponents have been held scoreless.
For 6 of the 9 games, Alabama's opponents have scored 3 points combined.
