🏈 Who knew buying a Christmas tree would be so informative

So last weekend I went to Acworth, Georgia with my family to buy a Christmas tree. We went back to the same church we went to last year, because we want to support a cause close to us while being able to celebrate a holiday that means a lot to us. We always take a family picture by the tree we pick out, so of course I had an Alabama hat on. As soon as I set foot on the tree lot a 5'4 black lady comes screaming to me about adding 30% to my tree because I was an Alabama fan. We had a good laugh, started talking football, education, and all of the other perks college can bring. This is when it got interesting. She explained to me who her nephew was, and he was the best player on Auburn's team in my opinion (not Carl Lawson). She was detailing his recruitment and how all of these schools wanted him. I believe she said he was originally committed to Ole Miss and took an official visit there. "They promised him he could play his position, that he would be taken care of, and that they would personally fly up to six members of his family to each and every game first class." She went on to say that she saw that as a red flag and that the NCAA would tear him a new one if they caught on to this. She then persuaded him to take a look at Auburn because they told him they wanted him for the position he actually wanted to play, they had good academics, and that they were more straight forward than the guys from Ole Miss.

In the end, it's amazing who you can run into on any given day, and another about the things you can get to discussing with a complete stranger that will connect the dots from other conversations you've had with others, ha ha. I believe this player was the same year as Ole Miss' big recruiting class, but he could be a year younger. Anyways, it just helped define a question we all were wondering about what they said or did to get that class and the lack of honesty they exemplified when being asked. Just thought it was something interesting to share with y'all.
