🏈 Who is Leigh Tiffin's Backup?

All of this brings up a very interesting topic. I have always wondered why the kicking positions seem to be so under-recruited.

On the surface, punters and kickers may not seem all that critical, but it doesn't take very long into a season when you realize whether or not your kicking and punting games are going to be blessings or burdens.

Talk going around in some usually pretty well informed circles that Tiffin suffered a pretty severe injury to his kicking leg in that little dust-up he had a few weeks back.

From the sound of some of the conversation, this might affect his performance this year.

So this question might not be as innocent as it first appears.

I'm sure we will have a few invited walk-ons to join our committment from the Lone Star State. I think that is the reason the kid got an offer was that CNS knew we are in need.

Seems like a possible realistic problem. There are plenty of capable walk-on's that can be invited by next fall however. If there is a position on the field that actually doesn't require learning of the playbook, it would be the kicker.

I know that Coach Stallings had the view that he could get a punter or pk from among walk ons, invited or otherwise, who would be almost as good as what he could get by offering a scholarship. This was especially the case when he was dealing with reduced scholarship numbers.
