In the hours since the SEC released its updated future schedule format, complaints of a lack of fairness have emerged from spots throughout the league, especially LSU.
In an interview with ESPN just a few weeks earlier, South Carolina Steve Spurrier said there's "nothing fair about college football." And he used Alabama as one of the biggest examples.
Unlike his ribbing of Nick Saban during the 10-second rule debate, this one shouldn't bother Alabama fans all too much.
"If it was fair, Alabama would have to sit out a year of recruiting," he told ESPN.com, which published the comments today. "Theyāve had the No. 1 class five out of six years. Thatās like giving an NFL team the first five picks in the first and second round every year -- almost.
"And some teams play eight home games."
Those comments might sound familiar.
Former Tennessee coach Derek Dooley, in the days leading up to his final game against Alabama as the Vols' coach, used similar language to describe the Crimson Tide's recruiting efforts.
"They change jersey numbers, not guys," Dooley said. "They sign the same guys every year, just different names. And they draft, we recruit. And they get the first 25 picks of the draft."
