šŸˆ Where does Coach Saban look for his next offensive coordinator?

A brief but applicable PSA.

Alabama’s OC and DC positions are where the resumĆ© is crowned/rehabilitated and you wait for a well paying HC gig to come looking for you. It is NOT a place where HC’s making several $M come to be a coordinator.

My thoughts on some of the replies...

Freeze would be great, but I don't think he's going to leave Liberty for anything other than a HC position.

Joe Brady would be grand slam hire, but word is, his desire is to stay in the NFL and work his way up there. He's only been there for a full season, and he's already a hot commodity in the league.

I'd think Kendal Briles and Jeff Lebby would be looked at if Saban decided to go the college route (just a guess).

RE: Gase and BIll O'Brien... They certainly fit the mold that, IMO, Saban is looking for. Both have college and NFL experience. Both are respected offensive coordinators. Both have been head coaches (O'Brien in both CFB and NFL). Both have connections with Saban, so there aren't really unknowns in terms of how they'll mesh. Gase has been on Saban's staff (many moons ago), and O'Brien has been a visitor to Tuscaloosa a couple times over the years to share ideas (was a speaker at a coaches clinic too I think). Gase has also been a visitor in the same capacity. Not saying either will be hired, but I'd bet both get a lot of attention. The one knock that I've heard for a while on O'Brien is that he can be difficult to work for, but in this case I don't see that as an issue since he isn't the head guy. Anyway, Saban sets the tone in that building (and regardless, he's difficult to work for himself). Also, it is believed that Gase will have OC opportunities if he wants to remains in the NFL.

@Brandon Van de Graaff a lot of buzz about Bill

Hiring him would make a lot of sense. I don't think comparing NFL success to CFB success fair. It's not apples an oranges, it's apples and car tires. But his 1 year stop at PSU was pretty impressive. For those that don't remember, he was brought in after the Paterno mess/sanctions. Ended up winning the Coach Bryant COTY Award for that season, before going back to the NFL. A good OC and would be another guy with extensive experience in every phase of a program from player evaluation to game planning, to have in the building.

Also meant to mention, Former FSU/WVU QB Clint Trickett was let go by FAU over the weekend. He was serving as their co-offensive coordinator and QB coach. He was hire at FAU by Kiffin. Trickett had a very brief stop at Alabama (before joining Kiffin) in 2017 as an analyst. Would not shock me to see Trickett return to UA and grab an analyst spot again.

that is one I had forgotten. He has ties to the Saban family as well from when they lived close together. IIRC from when he was at WVU he said in an interview he gave CNS daughter her first kiss. Not sure how that helps or hurts though. šŸ˜‚

I believe BoB would be a really good OC but I am not sure he would want to get out there and beat the bushes trying to recruit 16-18 year old kids anymore. I doubt we learn anything until the jocks and socks have been put away next Monday. You already were paying Sark 2.5 so money for a good OC isn't a real problem.

Wasnā€˜t he on the first season of Last Chance U?
