🏈 Whats your thoughts on the catch/interception down on the goal line?

Looked to me like the ball was caught by the bama player and the lsu player took it away from him while he was on the ground. Is this the way you see what happened?

It looked that way from 3 of 4 camera shots. The 4th shot from the back of the end zone had the TE juggling the ball with Reid's hans on it as they hit the turf. CBS only showed that shot once though, if I recall correctly. I begrudgingly give it to LSU.

My thoughts as well.

FWIW, that play alone did not lose us this game.

Bingo. It is one of those one in a million plays. 9 times out of 10 that ball either hits the turf or doesn't get juggled.

What throws me off is how in the hell did the ref see enough to call it right the first time?

I don't think the ref that signal could actually see it all happen as the only person I think with a clear view had to of been the back goal judge and I don't think he was the one who called it though. Remember there were about 3 other LSU players in the area lobbying for the pick. It was a legit pick. A freak one but it was an interception regardless. If the shoe was on the other foot nobody from Bama would be talking about it.

What he said. We had a couple of iffy play calls in my opinion. That attempted reverse was a turd. I'm never a big fan of anything we don't do on a regular basis. But hey, I'm a truck driver, not a football coach.

I don't think Williams really ever had possession of the ball, and when he hit the ground the ball bounced right in to the LSU defender's hands. A lucky bounced of sorts for LSU, but that's what you get when you don't give up on a play.

:word: That pass had more hang time than any punt or kick we had. Should have let Trent just run the ball or AJ pass it.

I thought it was a great call at the time. The only problem I saw was Bama had 2 receivers in the the same area. Reid made a heck of a play by coming off Hanks to defend the ball. I think the refs got it right.

On that play Richardson was wide open on the left again, and he would have scored and we would have won the game. This is how all of us feel, but I have to let it go and realize that nothing we (As a Fan) could have done to change the outcome. There are lots of coulda, shoulda, woulda plays that could have made a difference, however hopefully the team will review the film and make corrective changes and concentrate on MSU this week.

I am still a great fan. We are 8 and 1.

Absolutely.

Bear Bryant said "If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his butt when he jumped." We can "what if" all we want, but then so could lots of opponents Bama has beaten in previous seasons. Any way you slice it, LSU made more plays and they beat Bama in their own back yard. A bitter pill to swallow but that's the way it is.

I am probably the only one, but I don't think it was a bad call. LSU was caught off guard and Williams (I think it was Williams anyway) was open. The ball hit him in the hands and he did not secure the ball. LSU's DB didn't give up and came up with a great play. LSU just executed better on a few key plays and won. No shame in this loss to me.

Yeah and the play-calling in overtime was incredibly bad. How do we come out for overtime so incredibly unprepared?!

I still have yet to find a replay of this on Youtube to really look at it again.

CBS showed a lot of different views and on one of them I could tell that Williams seemed to have control of the ball, landed on his back and at that exact instant the other guy managed to get it out of his hands. Way too close to overturn the call, but that was the type of pass that (had there not been a defender there stripping it from him) would have been ruled "complete". So I think it was a complete pass to Williams and the officials made a bad call. But what are you gonna do. It's the officials, after all. :lance:

If that pass had been complete we would have surely scored a TD, or at the very least another field goal. Who knows what might have happened.
But that's in the past and it was ruled an interception so that's how it stands.

I saw the receiver with both hands on the ball when he hit the ground with his back. I cannot understand how that is 'juggling' the ball and while it may have popped loose enough for the defensive player to grab it, that would mean that the ground caused a fumble.

I do not agree with the ruling on the field. But as others have said, it's done and we lost.

The only way to tell is look at the LSU gloves (Black) and look at Williams' gloves (white). It was a catch. Nonetheless, you never leave it up to the refs. You want to really make yourself sick? Watch 89 block.
