🏈 What you think about this? Coach Saban saying?

Seems like he wasn't very concerned with the QB's ability to beat us passing. Seems like the strategy worked. I hope we have the horses to get sacks when the time comes.

Either way, if you can get the QB to think about the pass rush to the point it forces them to speed up their decisions, their accuracy should suffer.

It's true.

But potentially misleading.

Gimme a sack or effecting the QB, every time. I know the argument of you can force a bad throw INT and a hit after the release still pays dividends. But a sack creates very low % down and distances, many times create fumbles/scoop & score, and can knock QB's out of the game. Also creates more doubt and indecision for the QB, OL, and OC than just effecting him. Just my 2 cents

Compressing the pocket causes the QB to take his eyes off of his receivers and look down at the oncoming pressure. NO QB likes to have traffic around his legs and in his face. He will either throw off of his back foot and overshoot or air mail the ball or he will tuck it and try to run out. I hate to say this, but think back not too long ago to when we had a QB that would often bail to the right at the first hint of pressure.

Choosing between a sack and bad pass isn't the choice. It's choosing between attempting a sack and attempting to force a bad pass. A sack attempt is more likely to lose containment, and blitz packages often accompany man coverage, meaning if the QB slips through the upfield rush, defenders are fewer and could have their backs to the ball, meaning a longer scramble.
