Sometimes a joke is funny even though it's three years or more old. The joke was started by Nebraska fans on Reddit: I'm thinking it was 2019. It wasn't some "massive Twitter troll" as suggested; just "recycled material," so to speak.

Really good parody/satire is close enough to be believable on the surface. The Bee and the Onion qualify there more often than not. Even when they go way out it can still be almost believable at first glance.
