šŸ’¬ What VERY SPECIFIC thing do you miss about sports the most? Be as specific as possible.

Watching something that you don't know what the outcome will be. TV programs are pretty much guaranteed that the main character, and most of the support characters, will survive so there will be a next week show. Sure, if a very good team is playing a very bad team you can predict what the outcome will be, but how many times have upsets occurred? I miss cheering for the underdog when they play against a rival.

Really....if roundball is the topic....
What i miss is seeing teams...players... actually get to decide winners and losers.....
The neutral court....phenomenon.....
Instead of gosh awful officiating for the home team...and officials playing to the home crowd....
Thats what makes March so great for basketball šŸ€

If its other sports.....just the competition....women softball....spring footballl...
Baseball....just sitting back n watching

I miss the fact I couldn't go to the Linger Longer with my son and watch our Tide on the Links. Last year we saw them and that golf show was following them. Players were very nice to my son during their round and Coach Sewell spoke to us really quick as well. It was very quiet, walked with Wilson Furr's momma for a bit, and it was just a great time all around. Hopefully that's specific enough. Believe it or not it was just as fun as going to a football game. Love football, but starting to become a major hassle to get in and out of town as well as around town anymore.

Aint it the truth....getting Interstate finished will help....maybe all thosethat left at start of fourth quarter will stay.... and goodness has the traffic in Ttown got awful..
For past 10-12 years i just come on Thursday and go home Sunday/Monday...
Have our own place...( sorta..kinda)...so makes it nice... but the key for most is getting the construction finished on I-59.... no hope for Ttown traffic

I feel the atmosphere has simply gotten too big. If that makes any sense. You can't even park near campus anymore without having to walk atleast mile or so. Tailgate? Psh, you either have to have big dollars to pay someone or get out there on a Friday to claim your spot on The Quad and then back at it EARLY Saturday morning just so you can get a car close to set up. It pains me you have to take public transit from your parking spot to the stadium, meaning tailgating is away from "campus". I have really enjoyed taking my kids, but it's not easy taking a young kid anymore and trying to experience the gameday atmosphere with them. Their little legs simply can't take miles and miles of walking in the 90 degree heat. Traffic leaving, ugh, probably one of the main reasons folks leave early to be honest.

I-59 construction is a joke. Nebraska had a similar project in Lincoln several years ago and completed it in ONE offseason. It was in the contract. Project WILL BE COMPLETED prior to the start of next football season. NO IFs, ANDs, or BUTs!

i park about 2 blocks from the quad for every game we tailgate. sure, i have to get there about 6:30 am saturday morning. but that ensures that i get a spot as close as possible to the quad. and speaking of tailgating, my friend goes down on thursday to drop off the tents to secure our spot (usually the same spot each time, but we do have a backup spot...just in case). we both go down on friday to put the tents up, put up the lights, put the tables out, and get everything ready for saturday. on saturday, it's up ~5:00 am to be on-campus by no later than 6:30. my friend usually gets a room at the hotel for friday and saturday nights. he lives in huntsville so he'd have to get up even earlier than me to get there at the same time if stayed at home.

after the game, we hang around a while and let traffic die down a bit before we start to take down the tailgate (6 tents, 11 tables of various sizes, numerous chairs, lights, tv, food, dishes, etc.) after it's all down, we walk over to get our vehicles and drive them to the quad (by that time, they've opened up the streets to allow loading by the quad). then we load all the stuff onto the dolly and roll it over to the vehicles. we load up and head home.

it can get tiring, especially if it's a 6:00-6:30 game. but i think we've decided we're not gonna tailgate any late games like that. it just makes it too long of a day (up at 5:00 am and back home by about midnight or later). and neither of us is getting any younger, lol. still, we have a good time and it's good to see friends and family that you otherwise wouldn't get to see without a special trip or circumstance.

Now that's some serious dedication. I think once my kids get a few years older we should be able to do something like this, cause their little butts can actually help. They are 9,6,4, and 1, so almost impossible, and that's why I asked about the company that sets them up on The Quad in another forum. Driving four and a half hours isn't as ideal either, because I obviously work and can't be gone every weekend in the Fall, especially with only two tickets at the moment. We are still great friends with our old neighbor in Tuscaloosa that was raised in town and lived there all her life. She lets us stay with her over in Forest Lake, so we have an amazing resource and place to stay atleast. I am going to do my best to setup a tailgate for the Georgia game on The Quad with the company that does it all so we can all enjoy it, and everyone here will be invited as well. Gonna use it to market my hats, and hopefully get some of my Georgia family to visit Tuscaloosa finally.
