🏈 What player surprised you the most this year?

I would agree on Jonah being the surprise and exceeding any and all expectations.
Disappointment or didn't meet expectations Gehrig Dieter. I knew he wouldn't have the 90+ catches he had at BG, but he had some really bad drops though that would seem uncharacteristic for someone with that many catches under his belt.

I saw a stat the other day that he'd dropped less than five passes during his last season at Bowling Green. I want to say he'd caught 91 of 93 or some ridiculous stat like that.

Gehrig Dieter

Dieter finished 2016 with 214 yards on 14 receptions, for 4 TDs. Averaged 14.3 yards a catch, long was 45.

He did well the first 3 games (accumulated 148 yards and 1 TD) .. Then we didn't really see him until Chattanooga when he scored 2 TDs on (with 1 yard net? How is that right?) .. And he got a TD versus Florida on his only catch.

:headscratch:

Tim Williams was the biggest disappointment. His production does not match his speed and quickness. I'm guessing teams figured out fast that he only has a few moves in his pocket and he was more or less shut down.

#2 on the team for TFL's.
#28 in the nation for TFL's.
Improved both over last years results.

Another post of yours which makes no sense, at all.

biggest surprise:
I would say Josh Jacobs, to me he was way underused in the Washington and Clemson game, when he got a lot of touches against Aubarn I had many barn fans going who is this guy that continued to skull drag our defense down the field. Jacobs hits the hole like Ingram used to do like a bullet being shot out of a gun. hopefully he gets more carries next year and does not transfer that would be a loss to our backfield IMO. He would start on any SEC team next year and easily have a 1K yardage rushed, hopefully we continue to feed him.
Honorable mention Hurts, the 18 year old kid did pretty darn good being a relative unknown, yes his downfield passing ability needs work (but how many 18 year old freshmen qb's don't?), his running ability is nothing short of stellar.

Biggest disappointment:
Cam Robinson:
Yes when he run blocks he is very good, but he mental breakdowns and penalties for a seasoned lineman and mediocre pass blocking...very very disappointing to me

Biggest surprise for me was Anthony Averett. I actually thought he would be the weak spot in the secondary but he outplayed Marlon. Hope he shows just as much improvement this year as he did last year. On the offensive side it has to be Hurts. He has a lot to work on but I still can't believe a true freshman started for Saban at Alabama, won SEC Offensive Player of the Year and led the team to an SEC Title and NCG appearance. The future is very bright with him.

Having a time trying to see who didn't meet my expectations, I guess I'll have to go with Dieter. I was expecting a more athletic Mullaney, who was one of my surprises from last year.

He would start on any SEC team next year

Jacobs is good and was clearly underrated by the recruiting services but I have a hard time believing that he'd beat out Chubb(UGA), Guice(lsu), Pettway(aub) and maybe a few others like Webb(VAN) and Williams (ARK). I think Kentucky brings back a couple of thousand-yard rushers as well so there would at least be some stiff competition for him.
