About the SEC this season? Here are some general observations, feel free to add your own.

1. Overall, the conference is weaker than normal, even last year.
2. Why is Missouri even in the SEC? Embarrassing!
3. LSU may be the 3rd or 4th best team in the west.
4. Mississippi State is playing better than expected.
5. Ole Miss & Texas A&M may be ok early but the season is young.
6. Arkansas will be lucky to go 6-6.
7. Georgia and Kirby are looking to be the best in the east but they are middle of the pack in the west.
8. South Carolina is not as good as we thought they would be.
9. UT has talent but can Butch get them to play for him?
10. Florida is still having offensive problems.
11. Vandy is playing well but will it last? Not this Saturday.
12. UK decent in football? Early but impressed so far.
13. Auburn is tough on defense but you never know what you are going to get on offense.
14. Alabama is still the team to beat. How far will they go, only time will tell.

I have learned....
The SEC is not the #1 conference.... ACC, Big 10, and maybe others ahead of them
The SEC has the most overpaid mediocre coaches in CF....
Other then Mullan and Saban....who is a "keeper"....its Pathic...and the salaries...wow and when the BIG games for a weekend include names like Vandy, Kentucky, and MSU.... the bottom is close...
The SEC has 3 programs that have fired a HC that won a NC....and their changes wouldnt be considered an upgrade
......some might say....its competitive......that keeps it from becoming a top 10 league...but its really mediocrity ....

With some teams I'd agree with you, completely. With some of the others we're starting to see our pre-season forecast(s) beginning to come true. In other words, some cases and some teams ... conclusions are probably spot on with some.

IE: Last week in a few threads I cautioned "not to get on the UofSC bandwagon" yet. That was a conclusion far too early. Now, today, is UofSC what we thought they would be? I think so.

I've seen a few jumping on Oregon's train--with USC finding their spot in the PAC. What I see being missed is Oregon found themselves fighting for the PAC while USC was under sanctions. Now that the playing field is even? To early to jump on Oregon, IMO.

LSU? They're where we thought and the conclusion--thus far--have been accurate.

The ACC has Clemson and whom? Duke? Arbitrarily, let's put Duke up against Mississippi State. Or, say Georgia. You going with Duke in those contest?

The B1G has Ohio State (with a multitude of questions on offense,) and whom? Michigan? There's an example of what @OldPlayer said--too early to draw conclusions. We certainly can't take much away from their win over Florida (and wins over Cincy and Air Force don't do much for a resume.)

I'm not a "rah-rah, SEC, SEC" type of fan. I am one that thinks believes there's not a conference that's established itself yet.

Good discussion so far! I'd like to add that I would not fall asleep on Washington St. yet. Of course, they have not played anyone of real merit yet. For some reason, I love to watch that old Valdosta State offense on the field. Coach ML can put points up on anyone the question is, can his defense make plays? Personally, I don't think so over the course of the year. I see problems with Washington in the annual Civil War and USC if they play them this year, haven't looked at a schedule on the latter.

And why cant you take anything over Michigan DOMINATION over FL...who will wind up 1 or 2 in SEC East...???

other then Bama....who in the SEC would be favored over PSU, Ohio State, or Michigan...or even Wisconsin...
Or...big 12....OK or OkState.....or USC, Washington,

The number of playmakers being out for Florida puts an asterisk, in bold, by that final. UM scored 12 in the second half versus Cincy--Cincy--at one point only holding a three point lead in the second.

Well quite frankly I am not questioning anything about Bama
They are absolutely the team again in CF no doubt
After 3 weeks and a couple of years I just dont see other teams in this conference as powerful
Mediocre coaches with massive buyouts are the norm
I think its just circle where the SEC has moved down (other then Bama) and other conferences have moved up

Former LSU defensive lineman Marcus Spears and current SEC Network College Football analyst had a very strong message directed to Tigers fans on Monday.

Spears, who played at LSU from 2001 to 2004 under Nick Saban said that LSU has become a "middle-of-the-pack, very average college football program."
