So what about the Waterford Crystal ball?

It wasn't retired. The fragile symbol of success is still awarded to the No. 1 team in the Amway Coaches Poll. It just wasn't retained as the official trophy awarded on the field after the title game. That means a new one is coming to Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

The 2016 national championship crystal will be awarded to Alabama at the celebration after the 11 a.m. parade on campus. The procession will start at Denny Chimes and end at the Walk of Champions outside Bryant-Denny Stadium where a program will begin.

I guess the total number of trophies awarded for the title is at five now?

After the world saw Jameis hoist it in 2013 the crystal ball became a forever tainted image and football had to move forward while leaving behind the atrocities of the past.
With that thinking, Saban should have held two less Crystal footballs aloft at the end of title games, instead, he should have held two more pen holders aloft.
 
Of course! I got to hold a replica of the crystal football. I gotta find the pic and share. I had a Bama hoodie on and the tour guide saw me salivating over the crystalline football so he let me hold it haha.

Was there in May of 2008. Told the Master Engraver hosting the Demo/Q&A session at the end of the tour that he could go ahead and prepare several of them for Bama because he would be getting orders very soon. :D
