🏈 What are your thoughts on the defense?

Being we're only two games into the season and it appears the D is playing well enough to seem like we're 7 games or more in, I think we'll be fine.

It's very comforting to know Marcell Dareus is back on the line disturbing unsuspecting QBs!

My biggest concern so far on defense is the lack of push by the interior defensive line. It seems like this year the opposing teams running backs are gaining two and three yards up the middle where last year alot of those runs were bottled up at the LOS. I think this D misses Cody more than people want to admit.

you are getting a bit ahead of yourself. we've not had a team we've played where we needed a push. take psu, that's containment.

The D is young. Period. Full of talent and depth, even if it is young. The 2nd game in and people are concerned? Wow. The D is flying around and it is obvious we have ball hawks all over the field. They will progress and get better...there was progression in the last two games. That is all you can ask. It seems the Bama D did exactly what the coaches game planned.
I also believe Mallet will fold and make some bad reads that will cost him. Plus they have no running game, their line is meh and the D is huge question still for Arky. Agree on Mosley...future star in the making. The D will be fine....betting they will look 100% better today with some cogs back in place.

I am still just pissed that every SEC team gets a week off before they play Bama. That concerns me more than anyone player on a team.

I'd say against traditional drop back pocket QB, like we play this week and next, we'll see a very different defense than we've seen in the first 2 weeks. Add Marcel back into the mix, and well see pressure from the interior DL that we haven't seen in 2 weeks.

I'm still sticking with Stinson and Harris having big games. I think we'll see a small sample of it today.

Although I don't like giving up 200 yards of offense in a half of football, Duke didn't move the ball for the first 3 series when we were bringing pressure and playing the LOS. Hard to justify playing intense defense (or getting someone hurt) when the offense has 45 points at halftime.

Argo, Flyboy is trying to rear his ugly head, but I have swatted him down every time!

What the hell is this guy talking about? I think my ignore list is about to get a little longer.

On topic, I'm worried about the Arkansas game more than I've been worried about a game since early 2008. I only watched a little of the Ark/UGA game, but Mallett looks like a force to be reckoned with if you give him time to throw. If we don't get some serious pressure on him (which we haven't done this year yet), we may be dependent on the offense to pull this game out.

That being said, the Arky defense looks a little porous when it comes to run defense. If we can keep their offense off the field, it may tip things in our favor.
