Well, the first I have read from a players perspective that was sensible. They are more likely to be effected by this at home then playing football. I didn’t read his full list of demands but the first few seem reasonable.

ā€œWe all want to play football this season,ā€ the message read. ā€œEstablish universal mandated health & safety procedures and protocols to protect college-athletes against COVID-19 among all conferences throughout the NCAA. Give players the opportunity to opt out and respect their decision. Guarantee eligibility whether a player chooses to play the season or not. Use our voices to establish open communication and trust between players and officials; ultimately create a College Football Players Association [with] representatives of the players of all Power 5 conferences.ā€

Butch Worley, former Tider, mentioned this weekend that there were talks back in the '80's of a players association. Until they heard "dues will be enforced."

In a sense I don't see that much differently than I see the Leadership Council at UA. A lot depends on what their goals are, ya know? All that's mentioned here, sans the PA, are already being covered.

I'm glad one of them came out and said it. I stated a while back that these kids have dealt with far worse than this virus in the form of bullets, drugs, and crime. Once again, their lives are being held in limbo by someone else, someone else not even asking them their thoughts, and someone else that isn't struggling financially. Sheesh, let them make a damn decision for once in their lives. They made the decision to work hard and get to college, so let them make the next decision. They are adults now that can elect a president or fight and die for our country, allowing them to make a decision on playing football is an easy one.

BOOM! Someone finally said it. Pretty pathetic it took this long for one of these guys to admit it. A lot of people looked at us as selfish fans for wanting it, for what reason doesn't matter, writers spoke out against it, the college brass was more worried about liability on their part, but no on ever asked the players, not once. We knew they wanted to play. Millions and millions of dollars at stake for these players, it means a lot to them. Not even mentioning the players that simply want that last opportunity to pad up for a university they love before being thrown into the real world and fetching normal jobs. Glad to see someone woke up, after the fact of course, and acknowledged it.

Similar to how coronavirus has been handled by the government as a whole, this is following a similar path. Lack of leadership and direction.

Others are able to shape the collective view on this and ultimately change the narrative.

It seems to me that players are caught in a weird spot. Want to play vs need to play, as their potential football career is in limbo.

I don't expect the season to happen. I've felt this way since the beginning of this mess.

It is very difficult to lead when you cant get the truth where you are. The biggest mistake our country made is shuttering everyone and every business for a month and to allow this sham to continue. I understand that effects on the elderly and the people with severe pre-existing conditions are dangerous but this is no worse than the flu by every single indicator.

Everyone who gets a cough or headache goes and gets tested for this crap and the test is only 50% accurate. keep in mind the medical facility that you are visiting gets federal funding based on the percentage and number of Covid patients. My sister and brother are both physicians and my brother is partner in a large urgent care group.. they both say that them forms there staff must complete and every incentive that they can get pushes them to mark someone as covid positive. Hence, the reason that multiple facilities have been busted as stating they have 100% covid patients in their facility.. several of them where in Florida by the way.

I say all that, to say this..I work with and talk to hundreds of people and I spend a lot of time with these folks and their families. I know of 1, count them, 1 person who has tested positive for this stuff and they said it was like the flu for 4 days. how is that a pandemic? The flu kills just as many as this has and when it is flu season half the people who get it don't go to the doctor and get tested.. they go to cvs and buy and over the counter medicine and are better in a few days. So we really have no accurate number of how many get the flu each year either. Doctors don't get extra money because someone has the flu.

The media fear mongering has caused this mess, the loss of millions of jobs, thousands of businesses and the effects that it is having on schools and sports. My guess is, that no matter the result of the election that Covid miraculously goes away in mid November. Don't let them ruin the opportunity for these young men, for society to enjoy the fellowship that they get from watching sports. Coaches want to coach, the players want to play, the fans want to watch and they are no safer from Covid at home than they are on the field.

With the Big Ten out of the picture, now is the perfect time for the Pac-12 to try and make the Playoff again. You gotta be thinking thatstrategy right now if you're them. Of course they are the softest conference as far as leadership and state involvement. Funny how you can see Left leaning states voting to shut down revenue gaining avenues and Republican leaning states advocating to play.
