šŸŒŽ Welp, this is a crazy one. ICE detains current school superintendent who was under a deportation order from '24. He ran, had a gun ...

That is insane.

Why was Ian Roberts' identity kept secret until Tuesday?

The Des Moines School Board chose to select a superintendent to replace Ahart behind closed doors because it said it was necessary to bring in the best pool of candidates. District officials did meet with the public and staff to learn what they wanted in a superintendent.

Education advocates say choosing a superintendent behind closed doors is a growing trend.

The Morons who will support illegal fugitives in charge of their children?
Quite the demographic: white, female, and I'm guessing liberal leaning. Gutfeld coined the term "AWFuL's."

I didn't zoom in on the other side of the street. So ...

What's the term, Bipoc? I don't think I'd find many if I were to take a closer look.

Offer to send them with the deportee so they can support him every step of the way.

Idiots! The lot of them!

I want to make sure I read this correctly. This guy came to U.S. on a student visa in 1999 and never left, working in public education for years and having at least one weapons infraction before the discovery of a firearm in connection with his arrest. The 2023 hiring article said he grew up in NY. He, or someone on his behalf, has been lying for quite some time.

Guyana is getting a fine school administrator.

I wonder if that is a violation of the Sunshine Law in Iowa? In Ohio, ALL VOTES have to be in a public session.

A governmental body that wishes to hold a closed meeting must follow certain procedures, spelled out in Ch. 21.5, including taking a public vote and citing which exception allows closure. Discussion in closed meetings is limited to the reason why the meeting was closed, and the governmental body must go back into open session to take any final action.

SO much wrong in those statements.

First, they put him on paid leave. Why paid? They basically just gave him a paid vacation.
Second, a plea to "cool down the rhetoric" and to stop spreading "misinformation". Yeah, tell that to the news outlets who do the exact same things on an almost daily basis.

And what rhetoric? If he's an illegal alien then he needs to be deported, plain and simple. And misinformation? Again, if he's he's here illegally then he needs to be deported. Where's the misinformation? And why would that be upsetting to children?

It seems they're more worried about feelings than facts.

It leaves me wondering what kind of commissary ICE detention facilities have. Where's he going to spend the money?

"They did a criminal background check. Not immigration status." Yeah, that doesn't make this more clear.

IF I were to hire someone and pay them and they are illegal, I'd face prosecution/charges. Why aren't they?

Nothing amazes me in education these days. This does not speak well for the school districts where he was the superintendent. The county, city or exempted village office takes fingerprints and then it is run through the FBI and state background check system. I would like to know how nothing came up?

The gun charge probably did. There is a recently passed law that treats criminal backgrounds differently today than a few years ago. I don't believe they can be held against an applicant (depending on the record/conviction I'm assuming.)

This morning I've seen it mentioned he had won a discrimination suit against a school board in the past. Middlebrook or something like that. I didn't read the articles.

The way today is starting one might call it a Monday.

Dr. Ian Roberts...you look at his bio and you'll see it is full of support for diversity, for under-represented groups.

There is an underrepresentation of people convicted of weapons charges in roles where they work closely with children.

There's more than a fair chance that the "third party" they used to clear him didn't run a thing, criminal or immigration wise. Just collecting a check.

Changing the subject a bit.

I've wondered about those; specifically drug tests. I've wondered if you could hire a company to collect urine samples without testing. IE: If they are too scared to pee in a cup, we don't want them. It weeds out applicants.

I would assume decisions are made on how dirty, or what they found.

I should have read.

He was part of the target of a suit where a board was sued for discrimination on hiring practices.

Urine tests are crazy to me for new hires. To pop on anything besides weed you'd have to be so addicted you couldn't stay off it for a couple days. Weed is legal in over half the states now. Why bother?
Use hair if you want to find out if they've used.
