🏈 Week three games are up in the Sportsbook...

I am not a gambler and have absolutely zero knowledge concerning "odds". I want to bet on the Bama/Southern Miss game but there are terms there that I do not understand. I am familiar with betting on the team I think will win, but unlike previous games, do not see an option for Bama to win. There is an Alabama -48, a Southern Miss + 48, an under 55, and an above 55. This forum is not suitable for teaching me betting terminology. Guess I am asking, where is the option for picking Bama to win? Does Bama -48 mean that Bama must win by more than 48 points? Guess this must sound lie a stupid question but I have, except for a couple of trips to a Greyhound Track, I have never made a wager with "real" money in my life. Thanks.

I put up a thread earlier this year about how to use the Sportsbook and explaining how the odds work. IF I remember, I'll be sure to get it posted somewhere permanent this weekend—likely Saturday.

There isn't a moneyline, the last time I looked, for Bama to win outright. When there is, @the Bookie will post a straight up pick. Last week, UF didn't have a money line option.

I'll get into the money line later...but, as a quick refresher.

The odds (as shown for Bama -48) are 100/110. Meaning, if you bet $110 and win, you'll cash out with your bet plus an additional $100. 100 dollar bet gets you $91, and so on.

Bama -48: Bama needs to win by a greater margin.
MSU +48: Win or loss, as long as the score difference is less than 48.
The Over/Under represents total amount of points scored by both teams. If the total is more than 55, that pays...if it's less than 55, that pays.

There is a straight up pick on Tennessee vs Oklahoma. It's based on the money line. In this game, a $100 bet on UT to win pays $750. Oklahoma, a big favorite in this game, has a money line of -1250. So, flip the scenario. A bet of $1250 wins $100.

FWIW, in one of our later games last season, we opened the week with a money line set at $16,000. Yes, a $16,000 bet would have won $100.

Thank you TerryP. The 48 point differential bet is a bit tricky with Nick Saban coaching. If he wanted, he could put 100 points on them. He prefers to play a maximum amount of players, keeping the score down, which is great for our teams of the future. Thanks again for the education.
