I submit my suggestion.

Welcome to the "Wood Shed"

I don't care for a nickname for Bryant-Denny. I think we can stand on our tradition alone and don't need a nickname like "the big house or the shoe or the jungle or the swamp" to spice up our stadium. After our opponents leave Bryant-Denny, they will know that they have been taken to the "woodshed". We already have the "Fail" visitors lockerroom. That's enough for me.

I have to agree with the other posters. We don't need a stadium called the "horse shoe" or the "big house" or the "wood shed". We don't need players called "thunder and lightning" or "shake 'n bake". We're Alabama, and that alone scares the bejeezis out of the other team. Why mess with such a beautiful thing?

AFF I'll diasagree with you there. Nicknames for players is nothing new. I remember some calling Kevin Turner Touchdown Turner because he was used inside the 5 so much. Then you have the "Bookends" in '92. Deuce, DT, Biscuit, Mount Cody. Wasnt Musso called the Itallion Stallion? I know more had to exist in the old days I just dont recall what they were. Broadway Joe once he got to the pros. How about "Snake"?

It was #44 Craig Turner that was called TD Turner. He played with Shula in the mid 80s. Cornelius Bennett earned his nickname while in high school. I don't have a problem with players having nicknames. Just don't care for them on a stadium. To me. it sounds a little cheesy.

@ Heat....

I think Tubbs started the whole Jungle thing @ the barn a few years back. there were actually playing
Guns & Rosses welcome to the jungle over the PA @ one point. I dunno for sure, i just heard that somewhere.
Maybe Duder our resident barner can confim that.

I can and will confirm that. Jordan-Hare stadium is nicknamed "The Jungle" and we play the Guns & Roses song before every game.

I was a walk on here at the time Kevin Turner was here. We simply called him KT. On a side note. KT was no doubt the strongest skill position player that I have ever been around. Robert Stewart may have been the overall strongest on the team but pound for pound KT was one strong individual. You guys please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he and his family deal with his ALS.

This topic was brought up back in the summer, in fact by me. But just in fun. We established then most posters prefer Bryant-Denny Stadium, while those who can actually do something about it don't post on this site.

But as long as we are 1) just having fun, and 2) are not seriously thinking that having a stadium with Bear Bryant's name attached to it is not good enough; I'll offer the names "the Abyss" and "the Deep".

Teams can be lost in the "Abyss" or in it "Deep".

Why do people assume that by having a nickname for a stadium means we're doing it to make it a tougher place to play? I swear, the word "gimmick" is used WAAAAY too loosely in our fanbase.

With that said, I wouldn't totally be against having a nickname for the stadium but I would prefer to be something that was developed over time.

What he said. Its more for fun and considering we are going through another dominate period that the younger generation will remember. I barely remember Bryant and those younger than me only hear the stories. Time for new stories and to keep the old but also bring in the new.

(No uniform changes though)
