🏈 "We could be looking at one of the most devastating duos college football has ever seen."

I'm so excited to see this d line play. Not only these two on the edge, but we also bring back Jonathan Allen (led the team in sacks) and Dashawn Hand (played outstanding when he did get in). And with Daron Payne manning the middle, I almost feel sorry for opposing QBs and RBs. I don't care if the rest of the football world loves offense and wants to see these 68-59 shootouts. I love watching a slugfest; a slobber-knocker; a good old fashioned brawl. Give me a good defensive struggle any day over a west coast team that doesn't even know what defense is. Roll Tide.

Offense wins games. Defense wins championships.

When I read the tweet then noticed it was about the D line... It took me a minute to decide who the 2 were... Thought maybe it could be Evans as a pass rusher on third down, or Jon Allen, Hand, and finally Anderson.

Tim MF'n Williams... Been waiting his turn for a long time now. Used to drive me crazy to see Devall on the field on anything besides third and short.

We have no idea how Tim will do against the run because I don't know if he's ever played a single snap with those responsibilities, but even if he sucks setting the edge it's still worth his play making ability. Best pass rusher since Upshaw... Right?

Ryan Anderson is a complete unsung hero. Just finds a way to get make big plays. Not sure how his skill set translates to the NFL but next year he's going to be special. Reminds me of a thicker version of Erik Anders... Will play a lot more vs the run though.

Biggest difference IMO will come when both Allen and Hand are inside pass rushers. This was the type of group the staff was planning on having 3-4-5 years ago when they started recruiting quicker OLB and DL's. For a few years there was a constant mush rush with the DL's not quick enough to bring down the QB... Not any more.

Will be interesting to see how many snaps Evans gets at DE/OLB. He showed last year he's a perfect "spy", but he's also so dangerous as a pass rusher it's hard to see that skill not being used. The inside blitz will be fun to watch this year... Whether it's him or Rueben... 2 different types of players that will knock your block off.

It just wasn't fair to have Copeland and Curry lined up together on the same defensive line.

Also, Thomas and McCants had a good season together in 1988, I think it was. McCants was young that year but Thomas was just a freak by himself.

This basically sums up my feeling of how the D front should go. Comparison to Upshaw/Anders for Williams/Anderson is a good one. Good post @Tidestalker
