🏈 USC stuff

Heating up with absolutely no help from the NCAA.

Considering this report states he also told the NCAA this I think that statement is a little premature.

Fact is, there is no way to know what the NCAA is thinking on this matter right now. They are still involved, that much we do know.

Here's the thing...at least in my eyes.

With success comes jealousy. USC has had success.

Jealously leads to a lot of ill-will...hopes for the other to fail. Those feelings are abundant across the landscape of the NCAA in terms of fan bases.

People want something to be done about USC.

The conversations we all remember about how Bama should be slammed by the NCAA during the Means fiasco are the same conversations you see now with USC.

Can the NCAA simply ignore the public demanding some sort of justice? I see it as a situation where they'll be swayed by public opinion. To what degree is left to be seen.

Yes, the NCAA is handling this differently. I'll leave it at that, as we all know what I mean.

Where are the detectives, the FBI, the undercover, fat coaches dressed as a Molly the Maid employee infiltrating Capstone offices? Are USC students being grilled about any thing they may have heard a rumor about?

Terry, I don't see the parallels as easily as you seem to. These NFL agents were on the sidelines during practice, Petey knew of them. They were also granted access to the locker room after games, etc...

You can't tell me that a good # of folk didn't know what was happening at USC, Carroll being among them. Pete C. is not an idiot oblivious to his surroundings and happenings on his team.

No Alabama coaches were purposely allowing the booster to pay for A. Means; they weren't that closely connected. That is why he was called a rogue booster.

There are some areas that the NCAA officials are handling this differently, yes.

But, the Feds are involved in the USC allegations. That's how this information came to light.

You have a view of how the coaches under DuBose's term handled this. It's not exactly accurate.

You are correct, Terry. I guess all that can be done is wait another 3 years and see if USC is penalized.

As far as Alabama's coaches, let's not get into all of that. You are most assuredly correct about that also.

Don't get me wrong. It sure seems like the Reggie Bush stuff should have been resolved by now. But, then we add in the Mayo story.

Mayo was broken about a year ago - Bush what, 2 years now?

IT took the NCAA to come to a resolution on our stuff 2.5 years. And that was with our cooperation.

USC...not cooperating.

They probably learned from Bama's case that it is better not to cooperate...

The barn will win a NC before USC is put on probation. About the time heII freezes over.

I've wondered about this...and here's the my answer.

The NCAA already has put one of its toughest investigators, a bulldog named Rich Johanningmeier, on the USC cases. Johanningmeier started in 1986, has been sued (in the messy Alabama case) and, at least in some corners, is feared.
"Some of those guys if they find a locked door, they just go on home," said a coach whose program came close to the death penalty in a case headed by Johanningmeier. "This guy goes to the next door."

I just don't see this just going away.

I was just listening to Lance and Ian on WJOX a few minutes ago and they said that the LA TIMES had reported that the NCAA was coming out with those words that every school hates to hear.... "lack of institutional control". Ouch!!!!!! Hopefully they use our punishment we received awhile back to use as a measuring stick!!!
