🏈 USC about to get hammered?

kudos to yahoo for not letting the story die. I've posted about it several times.

Yes! Kudos to them for sure. Them not letting it die really made the NCAA have to get off their butts and do something. They sure as hell weren't being lazy when they investigated us, so what is good for one program had better be good for the other.

If USC actually expects significant sanctions and if, as a result, they hired Kiffen as a temp to keep the course, then USC has the most ignorant AD and President in all of college football. If you're expecting penalties, then you're expecting probation. Who worse for the job than a guy that was under all sorts of scrutiny for negative publicity, a record number of secondary violations in his first year and possible major violations?

I hate using this word. But, here it comes.

My "source" (and believe this...it is a big one) at USC was told to expect sanctions months ago.

I don't think the sanctions would be any less or any more regardless of the hire. The thing about Kiffin is that, whatever they are, he is going to be there when they are over as long as he presents any semblance of being the right one for the job. They are not going to have to find someone else because he ran off like Fran did.

I didn't mean to imply that Kiffin would affect whatever sanctions would be handed down, but rather, if you get significant sanctions, you get probabtion and an extra critical eye on you. When on probation, it's not a good idea to have a coach that prides himself on creating negative press for your university and constantly walking the line (and probably over it). You want to fly under the radar as much as possible until you're off probation. That is not Kiffin's MO.

No, but even if you had a low profile coach, USC is not and never will be low profile or able to fly under the radar. Just like Alabama or Notre Dame or Oklahoma. You cannot fly under the radar at a big time football program.

What kind of worries me is that the NCAA could do something like they used to do every time fatty Phil and tennessee would get caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Kind of like they did in 2001 where the NCAA told them "well, you're on probation BUT, it's basically sanctionless, so just be good and we will only make you give up 1 scholarship over a three year period". And that was over the whole Tee Martin thing which looked to be very serious. There needs to be a revolt if USC skates on this. After what they did to us in 2002, what they did to Florida back in the mid-1980's, what they did to Oklahoma in the late 1980's, the NCAA should be sued if they do not adhere to the same guidelines when "sentencing" USC.
