Garrett has a contract that expires in a few weeks (somewhere around January 14). They don't have to fire him exactly, just not sign a new contract. Could just get an announcement on a new coach saying he will take over once the contract runs out.

Two potential targets I've seen mentioned are Rhule and Meyer. It just so happens that the agency that represents Garrett also represents Rhule and Meyer. To me, it's a "red tape" kind of scenario but it does appear they would have to cross a few "t's" and dot a few "I's" before they move on to either (if indeed that's the direction they're headed.)
I don't think Meyer can handle the stress. Jerryās micro management and the massive media eye will be too much. He wont last 3 years and their winning percentage will be about the same as it has been the past decade. Just MHO...
