šŸˆ Update: Cowboys will not renew Jason Garrett's contract

Cowboys are worth an estimated $5 Billion. Jerry's a hell of a businessman, this cannot be argued.

As a game winning owner, he's a failure. I doubt he'll ever see them win the big game while he's in control.

He's the only owner that runs his mouth with reporters after every game.

Wonder how many women he's paid hush money to over the years.

If they let Garrett's contract expire, the new coach will likely fire whoever is left. Jerry Jones obviously knows how to make money. Garrett's contract expires and Jerry owes $0 to him. Assistant coaches typically don't have guaranteed contracts (again, Jerry pays $0).

Admittedly, he's had a bad run, but he was the owner during three of the Cowboys' Superbowl victories. That's more than everyone except Pittsburgh and New England, not sure if San Fran's wins came under one ownership or not.

I think he's suffering from the same need to hire from the inside that has plagued so many teams, including Alabama. If he brings in another good coach and let's them coach, he might see one more. He's 77 though.

RTR,

Tim

Jack Kent Cooke owned the Redskins for three super bowl titles. Jerry's success at NFL team management came early in his ownership - before he learned how to screw it up. He's too involved in the nitty gritty of team operations. Because of his early success, he thinks everything he does is right. The results show that he's wrong.

Hell that haven't even played in the NFC championship game in 2 decades. Look at the talent they've had during that time on the team. Last time was 1995.

You've heard the story, sitting at the bar arguing with Jimmy about anyone could coach the team to a Super Bowl victory (and he was right, Barry won XXX) and the rest is history.

He lucked into it really. He fired Landry and replaced him with Jimmy Johnson (really an inside hire since Johnson was a teammate of Jones in college) who won him 2 Super Bowls and then Barry Switzer came in (another old teammate and basically inside hire) because Jones felt he could control him better and won the last one.

Actually Barry was their coach at Arkansas.

2 words. Hershel Trade.

Outlets are still saying a decision about Garrett has not been announced. Lot of stories saying heā€™s fired and others that thereā€™s been no news. Who knows. But whereā€™s thereā€™s smoke.... He should have been gone a few years ago. Wasted a lot of years with tons of talent. Mark Richt like.
