🏈 Update: Alfano in the portal again.

What's really sad is that Alfano, and perhaps even more so Anoma, are athletes whose positions are highly valued by both college and pro teams. These young men had so much promise, so it's all the more tragic they couldn't fulfill a portion of that promise, to at least obtain a degree that could change their future, let alone cash in on that potential in professional football.

Some will scoff at me, but I honestly believe it's a lack of faith in these kind of people. They have zero direction and are living for nothing and make bad decisions because they have no spiritual purpose. They are lost, don't know how to act, listen to anyone that is willing to appear caring, and they just have zero idea of a behavioral code. Feeling lost can be dangerous, most importantly to that person, and they can self destruct quick.

There's a part of that that's likely true. Evidence supports your musing...

About an 18 year old. Or 19, 20...

And that's what's sad. IF you're right...18 years on this earth and lost.

What an absolute train wreck of a highly touted recruit with elite physical talent. The next team that takes a chance on him better be prepared for the damage an emotionally and mentally immature player or a common street thug with football talent can cause their program. Caveat emptor — let the buyer beware comes quickly to mind.

I’m SO thankful he left Bama after only a few months. Though I am surprised Saban’s recruiters didn’t find out about his true nature before signing him. I seriously doubt Alfano suddenly became toxic once he entered college ... there had to be a trail of indicators along the path of his high school career ... right? Perhaps he had a string of enablers who covered for him or the folks who knew something were afraid to speak out for fear of being labeled something awful by the opinion police?

He had some issues in high school in New Jersey. He then had to deal with the loss of his grandmomma that he was very close with. Not always easy on a guy that's already had some issues. I hate he feels alone.

What makes you think they didn't know? His situation was well known.

3 high schools in 4 years, Alabama in 2019, Colorado in 2020, and wherever in 2021.

I’m going to backtrack a little on this kid. Come to find out, Alfano is suffering with Epilepsy and wasn’t diagnosed until he had multiple seizures in Colorado. Epilepsy is a rough hand to be dealt.
My wife suffered with Epilepsy from the age of 2 until the age of 21, when she had a new surgery at UAB hospital. Thank the Lord, she has been seizure free since that surgery.

Does he/will he have any eligibility left? If 2019 was his first year, that makes 2024 his max last year of eligibility. But he’ll have to sit out (again) for a year because of this most recent transfer (unless the NCAA changes the rules). Of course, that’s if he’s academically eligible.

Maybe...

I read his statement as his first seizure was 2/15/2020, aka while at Colorado.

I read this stuff about him and think he just has one excuse after another. Maybe he'll figure it out, who knows.

It may have been the first seizure that someone else actually saw. You know that they can vary in severity from "the staring off in space look to the grand mal seizures" where the body in not so pleasant terms "flounders like a fish out of water". I've dealt with all kinds in my years as a teacher and the grand mal is scary tp say the least. I too hope that he finds his way and gets the care needed and figures everything out.

My uncle had a seizure while driving a few months ago and was in the hospital for weeks. He's suffered from grand mal seizure his whole life. They are terrible.

Without a doubt!! First one I ever saw was a student in one of my PE classes back when I first got started at Fultondale HS. Kids were in the bleachers at the football stadium while we were painting the field for that night's game. Kids started screaming for me and I turned around to see one of my students in a full blown grand mal about halfway up the concrete bleachers. It wasn't one of those "clear things out of the way and just let it play out" moments. I grabbed him up and just held him tightly to my chest while telling another to run and get help. The kid came out of it and had no clue, only wanted to know "why was I hugging him!" He had never had a seizure before that day.
My own son experienced 2 seizures at a very young age that were induced by fevers. Scary moments for sure!!!

What makes me think they didn’t know? Well, because Coach Saban has said many times he recruits great character as much as elite talent. A recruit having one without the other doesn’t work for him.

How do you logically come to the conclusion that they didn't know.

They have ~25 spots a year, you think they don't know everything about someone who gets an offer?

I'm ok with taking chances on people. It's kinda the point of life, at least for me 😉
