Update...49ers Reuben Foster talks about offseason court case (suspended 2 games)

I think if he again found himself in a similar situation it would be hard to get the benefit of the doubt. But the way the DA was leading the charge, it was unlikely that Reuben was going to get the benefit of the doubt the first time. For such a scheming, vindictive, person, this is highly unusual to get such a confession in the type of detail she has been willing to give. I'd say, dang near a miracle in fact.

I'd think the biggest problem Reuben faces is cleaning up all the other recent examples of poor judgement on his part. Some of which still requires court appearances. With ongoing judicial problems of any kind, he is still going to be running out of tolerance fast with his new employer even with the benefit of the doubt.

Ever wonder why so many black people go to jail?

This a joke, or a serious sociopolitical question?

If the latter, I'd say it has a lot to do with significantly higher rates of out of wedlock births which leads to many more fatherless homes, coupled with a thug culture of lawlessness that is promoted by pop culture which is marketed almost exclusively to blacks.

Yeah totally. Rap music is responsible for black people going to jail for drugs at about 10 times the rate of whites even though whites use drugs at the exact same rate, right? Your entire post looked like it was blurted right out of the face of that piece of shit Sean Hannity.

The truth of the matter is probably somewhere in between the two sides of this argument. Part of that is racism, part of it is that many white defendants can afford a good lawyer.

Both of you should watch Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas on HBO. Granted, it has a bit more of a left leaning but it is a good look at the realities of the issue of cops vs the black/homeless/mentally ill/LGBTQ people. It raises questions from both sides, showing it is not so clear cut that one side is completely at fault.

Oh really?

Then why do blacks make up only 12-13% of the population but commit over 52% of all violent crimes?

And yet whites are right at 62% of the population, but commit just 42%. Thats FBI stats, snowflake.

But let's visit your allegation of drug use and limit the scope to just that, but then factor the race %. You're STILL looking at an exponentially higher % of black drug-related arrests per capita by race.

Here's an article from left-of-center ABC news citing studies on the influence of gangster rap...

Rap Music Glorifying Drug Use

Of the 38 most popular rap songs between 1979 and 1984, only four (11 percent) contained drug references. By the late 1980s, that increased to 19 percent and by 1993, to 69 percent.

And that's just drug references. Thats not counting violent lyrics, and disrespect and degradation of women. 69% in 1993? Its even worse today. Fatherless (and thereby easily influenced) youth aren't affected by a culture that promotes and glamourizes thuggish and violent behavior? If you really and truly believe that, then I've got some oceanfront property in Nebraska for you to buy.

But noooooo, it's not a culture problem.

Noooooo, not at all.

Based on the events of the day what do you think I'm driving at? I'm more than happy to concede that we all are a product of our environment. Too much Hollywood, video games, dysfunctional families, bad association for everyone. All shape the person and their habits and all tend to desensitize peoples good judgment in the end.

But the latest action in this thread is also about the DA and his determination to pursue Reuben and these ridiculous charges even after a more than a compelling confession by the alleged victim. Where's the evidence the judge proclaimed? Point by point was refuted in the verdict and yet the DA still took the opportunity to say to the citizens that Reuben was guilty. Based on his perspective, perhaps he too has spent too much time with Hollywood, video games, dysfunctional families, and bad association.

There is a huge difference between a stupid "misdemeanor" Reuben than a stupid "felonious" Reuben. Something that was obviously lost on the DA.
