BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
The University of Alabama has confirmed the death of one of their athletes in the severe weather that struck on Monday night/Tuesday morning.

University officials say junior John Servati was a swimmer for the school. He was taking refuge with a friend in the basement of a home in the 1400 block of 22nd Avenue when a retention wall gave way. Servati was taken to DCH, where he was pronounced deceased.

No other information is available at this time. Stay with this story for more information as it is released."

My prayers go out to his family.

Sad indeed. Thoughts and prayers for his family. :(

A friend of mine lost his house to the last tornado that came into Birmingham overnight. Thankfully none of his kids or he was hurt. Stay safe everyone as we are supposed to have another round come through later today and tonight.

Oh my gosh! Glad they are not hurt .. Wow. I will keep his family in my prayers.

@sk33tr, check out Speed Dial 2 extension for chrome, might help you clean up that toolbar :)

what tool bar? you talkin' about the one at the bottom?

that's a dock (appropriately named, object dock, similar to the one on Macs).

but if you're talking about the top bar with all my bookmarks, i like it like that. it keeps all of them in one easy-to-reach (or click, as it were) place.

Absolute terrible news to a great guy. Guy literally lived to help others out and that is how he died. Thank you for your contributions to the University of Alabama and all of people in general John. R.I.P
