Georgia had a lot of energy but failed to execute against the Crimson Tide - a reoccurring theme in big games.

As mentioned earlier this week, Saturday's game against Alabama was all about perception for the Georgia football team.
Unfortunately, that perception is not going to change. That's what happens when you routinely stumble against ranked teams
.
It's also why you see so much frustration within the Bulldogs' fan base, and rightfully so.

It gets old.

First, take nothing away from Alabama. The Crimson Tide proved that it was a wee bit early to cast Alabama into off into the land of SEC also-rans. Not after Saturday's 38-10 win, which brought back nightmares of the last time the two met in Sanford Stadium back in 2008.

No, this wasn't the same inexplicable loss like the one that befell the Bulldogs last year in Jacksonville against Florida, a double-digit underdog that afternoon.

Alabama is going to win a lot more games before this year is complete. But for Georgia fans desperate to see their team take that next step, the loss stung just the same.

It's the way it happened.

The first play of the game set the tone for what as to come.
The first thought that popped into my head was how much this game reminded me of the team's 35-7 loss to South Carolina in 2012.

For those wanting some good news, that same year Georgia rebounded and made it all the way to the SEC title game, and being that Alabama is in the SEC West, the Bulldog still control their own destiny as far as the East Division goes.

But here's the problem.

Although Georgia controlling its own East Division destiny is certainly true, what's puzzling to so many is the fact the team - for whatever reason - struggles to play consistent football and thus you invariable get outcomes like this.

Again, take nothing away from Alabama.

Going undefeated in the SEC is an arduous chore for anyone, but it's still disappointing to see these type effort befall the team on an annual basis.

Perhaps the Bulldogs can take a page from the Crimson Tide.

All week long, pundits like myself worried that Alabama would be tough to beat knowing that Tide's backs were against the wall, knowing another loss would drop the team to 0-2 in conference play.

Georgia would do well to adopt that same philosophy.

The question is, can they?

Next week's opponent Tennessee feels it should have beaten Georgia the last two years, and with so many young players on this year's Bulldog squad, you have to wonder how they will respond.

Right now, that's definitely a concern.
