| FTBL UCF hires Gus Malzahn

How dadgum delusional does one have to be to compare Harsin's record to either CNS, or CDS?! Talk about reaching for straws. Oh...wait...we are discussing a*, so...never mind.

ROLL TIDE!

unbelievable...no doubt....
Sounds like an accountant making numbers favorable for the corporation / stock holders meeting....

but i guess they dont lie...
But dont tell the whole truth...either

Harsin...you aint in Idaho any more....
funny thing is...first year coaches do well at AU...at least last few...

When you are programs like the Barn you have to take what you can because the reality is you do not have anything else. They are who they are. They are promoting what they have which is not much.

come on man.....
Have seen tackle egible plays...
On side kicks
Muddle huddles
Fake hand offs
Fake FGs where kicker/ holder throws ball...( isnt that tryingto confuse opponent
All these tactics are common

None of these examples you've mentioned here have any relation to the rule that's been quoted.

Tackle eligible has nothing to do with substitutions.
On side kicks have nothing to do with substitutions.
Muddle huddles have nothing to do with substitutions. (That's Texas.)
Fake hand offs have nothing to do with substitutions.
Fake field goals have nothing to do with substitutions.
A kicker or holder throwing the ball has nothing to do with substitutions.

Sending a punter into the huddle and then lining him up as a wide receiver has everything to do with substitutions and you can clearly read how it's a violation of written rules.

Call it stretching, skirting, or breaking the rules. None of those equal "he's a good guy." He's a cheater.

Said they all have to do with deception ..... not substitut
why cant a guy that punts be a receiver also....
A QB can step away from being under center and punt....
You missed the point...
So you dont like the Gus Bus...
Just say that....be transparent

what about a QB goes under center...then backs up and kicks ball.. not listed as a kickr?. is that cheating...( bear had QB quick kick a lot...)...to answer...NO its not

and...is holding a foul or is it cheating....
If its not called...then the team has gotten away cheating? Or just a missed foul
its up to the officiating to recognize a foul....and flag it....enforce the rules

its up to the coachg staff to prepare their assigned area....for anything....

all they did was line a kicker up at wide receiver....
Who says a kicker cant be a receiver...?
Lots of tactics are to create confusion and gain an edge,...

putting a man in motion is designed to change or confuse the coverage....right?

If its a violation of the rules....the officials must recognize and penalize it....
Explain how any of this has to do with the substitution process intended to confuse the defense? I'll hang up and listen.

If you take Bowden (under probation and sanctions due to cheating) you'll find two since 1951 that had a good first season. Chizik had the best of the rest if you consider 4th in the SEC west as "doing well."

Malzahn Chizik. Bowden...
Ok...should have said ....first or second year ...anyway...
Dont really keep up with AU football... and dont throw Shug in there just to get it dated back to 50s...just last few...

If you would rather we can go back 100 years and include Johnny Floyd. The story still remains the same except now it's two out of twelve (with the Bowden caveat.)

I really don’t understand....why you dont get it...
And you are mostly right on-in your thinking...
But...let me go there...

Are you saying...a substitution is made....the player going in must play the position for which he is substituted for?....and not just play that position...you cant even lineup in that postion and switch out of it...is this what you are saying... cant go in and play any other position?.. if not then you cheated? Are a cheater...And you can no longer be a good guy...never again...
thats ridiculous!

Thats not done all the time... who says a punter has to be apunter/ a QB/ a offensive tackle every time he goes into game... ? Sure it is/was done for deception....so what...wasnt called a penalty by the officials...
There are substitutions made all the time....that have elements of deception

what happened in the Bama/AU case....Bama didnt react properly...period

And, @50+yeartidefan ,

It's not keeping up with Auburn football. It's keeping up with college football as well as knowing its history.

ok.... in last FEW AU coaches...Malzahn, Chizik, Bowden....seems they have had tremendous success inFIRSTor SECOND years....for some reasons...
Is that better.?
( try not to let my mind...as shallow as it is....go back much futher....and certainly not to "johnny floyd" whoever that was...).

If a tackle is going to line up as a receiver, he must report into the referee since his number would not normally allow him to be on the end.

Ok...
But numbers for positions arent standardized in CF like they are in nfl...
generally...but....not totally....

have seen receivers and D linemen with 80s numbers...
LBs and RBs in 30s numbers...

etc

@It Takes Eleven.... probably not in this topic....lol

I guess sending a RB in to take shotgun snaps is cheating also. Tough rule.

Regardless of how any of us want to interpret the rule... No matter who Auburn puts on the field, Alabama is not allowed 12 players. It was a coaching shortcoming of gigantic proportion in a huge moment by Saban and his staff in more way than just miss counting.
