Bill O'Brien has officially accepted the offensive coordinator job for the New England Patriots. Time to see who the new OC is going to be.

Is it to much to ask for a wide open offense that can create explosive plays but can also play physical with a very physical Defense? One can dream right?

It's difficult for any defense to play physical and fiercely defend every yard if your offensive style asks them to play lots of snaps and/or with little rest between series. Defenses are better the fewer snaps they are asked to play.

Conversely, it's difficult for your offense to be explosive on any given Saturday if your defense needs it to be if the offense isn't already wide open and explosive. Offenses are better at what they do the more they are asked to do it. And it's hard to attract elite offensive skill players if you don't already have a tradition of utilizing and developing these players.

So yes, @mando, as you can see it's virtually impossible to do both exceptionally well.

There are people in FCS that could do a good job… Kirby began at. Valdosta State… Go get North Dakota St. OC…A hungry aggressive Good developer and teacher with the talent we have… we would have limitless potential.

List is big enough for me. Roman doesn’t move the needle though and we know that Saban isn’t kicking the tires on Kingsbury and the Air Raid.

Kirby was a DC at VSU and then went on to be a GA before his time as a position coach—at four different stops—before becoming a coordinator in FBS.

I’m sure there is head coaches or great OCords in the FCS that would be extremely successful at UA… Some of the names on that list are not very impressive at all… some are only position coaches or nfl washouts…Dont want another NFL guy (that can’t relate to college players) or quick jump the ship guys at Bama ..bring in someone that may build something a while..

They only can coach PROs…Lebby runs his own offense and may not can run someone else’s…Saban has his own system of offense…Maybe it’s time to look at a smaller school or at FCS OCords…Bring in a hungry lower ego guy willing to put in the work..
