Our different perspectives can be explained through planning and working ahead. I'm obsessive about it.

Example: I just completed my hotel reservations for the 2010 football season.

Another example: I just assembled my pre-preseason top 25 and my pre-preseason All-SEC team for 2010. A hint: the first team includes two Alabama running backs.

Working that far ahead, you occasionally are shocked to learn you are not alone. An Alabama fan recently e-mailed me with the news that six Alabama conference opponents will have an open date before they play the Tide next season.

The rush on pre-Tide open dates probably began three years ago - the day after Alabama hired Nick Saban as its head coach. The man does have a track record.
