🏈 #TuaForHeisman season stat tracking thread

I was curious just how much time Tua has been in the game. I don't have a membership to a fancy site that provides this data, so I used ESPN's play-by-play to give an idea of when his last play was and then looked at each game on YouTube.

Louisville - (10:03 - 3rd) = 34 mins 57 secs
Arkansas State - (1:30 - 3rd) = 43 mins 30 secs
Ole Miss - (7:18 - 2nd) = 22 mins 42 secs
TAMU - (2:01 - 3rd) = 42 mins 59 secs
Louisana - (1:28 - 2nd) = 18 mins 32 secs
Arkansas - (8:47 - 3rd) = 36 mins 13 secs
Missouri - (11:54 - 3rd) = 33 mins 06 secs
Tennessee - (12:53 - 3rd) = 32 mins 07 secs
LSU - (2:24 - 4th) = 57 mins 36 secs
Miss State - (2:10 - 3rd) = 42 mins 50 secs

364 mins 32 seconds, which means over 10 games he's playing an average of 36 mins 27 secs. Essentially he's playing 6 full games this season.

So on average, Tua is only playing 6 mins into the 3rd quarter and then sitting for the rest of the game.

Damn.

So my estimation earlier ITT of 2.5 quarters per game was pretty spot on.

And your sipherin' has the LSWho game factored in as well (where he played deep into the 4th), at an avg of 6 mins into the 3q.

Even with a less-than-stellar MSU game, his stats over what amounts to 6 full games of real time are fookn eye-popping.

I think it's still his to lose. He'd have to throw 4 or 5 picks in the next 2 games, avg 50% comp, and throw for about 200 avg to hurt his chances.

I'm going to also look the other two QB's (Kyler and Will) to see how they compare this weekend. I'll post that here as well.
I looked at that a few days ago. At the time OU's backup had played in four games. I believe WVU's had played in six of their nine games.

And, FWIW, Mac Jones has played in every game but one this season. And, I do recall Jalen having more completions than both of those two back-ups have attempts--combined.

So Tua is playing 1 quarter less (~16 mins) than both Kyler and Will on average. Take that into context when looking at the statistics below.

Insane.

Twelve Alabama passes have gained at least 50 yards this season, the most in the nation.
The Crimson Tide also has the most 60-yard passes with six, 70-yard passes with four, and 80-yard passes with two.

Watching the post game on SECN yesterday, the concensus with the anchors there is that Tua locked it up yesterday. Chizik especially.

The way Tim Brando and Tillman were talking that Kyler was the lock. Both saying that even if you drop his 4th qu. he still leading Tua?

Not sure I have access to a site (or know of one that provides it free) that breaks down yards per quarter...would be interesting to see.

But the point is really that Tua's numbers would increase if he played an extra 15+ mins per game.
