CINCINNATI -- Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was taken off the field on a stretcher during the second quarter of Thursday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Tagovailoa hit the back of his head on the ground when he was sacked by Bengals nose tackle Josh Tupou, and his arms appeared to seize up almost immediately. He remained on the field for roughly 10 minutes before he was loaded onto a stretcher and taken away.
The Dolphins said he suffered head and neck injuries, and he was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The Dolphins gave an update on Tagovailoa shortly before halftime, saying he was conscious and had movement in all his extremities at the hospital.
The Dolphins entire sideline gathered around midfield as he was taken off.

Tia just needs to quit football. Not because he is injury prone. But because he still has not learned a basic requirement to be a QB in the NFL. If no one is open, throw the damn ball away. Lastly night he ran a play action where he had 4 seconds to throw. No one was open. A DL was bearing down on him. He tried to juke and got destroyed. If he had thrown the ball away he never would have taken that hit. It’s exactly why he got hurt at Bama. He won’t throw the ball away. He’s not smart. His football IQ is not good enough for the NFL. I Love Tua. He’s a good kid. And he is crazy talented. But he’s not smart.

He has the seventh quickest snap to release time in the NFL. It's not stupidity, it's competivness. I can recall maybe two of the greats that did not get hit often and that was Peyton and Brady. I could be missing some, but in a quick thought that's all. Most of the others were competitors and got beat up pretty good in their time. Their gritiness is what made them great. Injuries happen in football and this one was very unfortunate. At first glance it looked malicious, but after replay it was a simple football play. Sometimes a guy is just injury plagued, but it doesn't mean he's dumb or stupid.

No. Tua isnt stupid....but ..........
I don't know we will see him playing for awhile...or at all...

Last week...the impact on his head seemed worse than this one...
But the combined may be the problem...

Definitely needs investigating from last week as to why he played again this week..

Damn....what abad break....

Isn't the main office of the NFL in change of this now?
Until he is diagnosed with a concussion, it is all up to Dolphins staff and trainers. They diagnosed him with a back injury in the Bills game so he could go back in. If it is found that they misdiagnosed him on purpose then they are in violation of the protocol and could be punished. But it all starts with the team and their trainers.

Tua’s a great QB and an even better person but he’s absolutely injury prone. And when you’re being paid millions of dollars to lead your team to the playoffs being snake bit, to borrow an old school term, causes your team’s owner to start thinking about your replacement. I hope I’m proven wrong eventually but I think he’s too fragile for the NFL … just as he was for the SEC. The question becomes how long will he play … or be able to play as a starter? NFL teams need their franchise QB’s on the field winning games so they won’t wait too long before making other plans.

On the flip side...Bryce does the same...IMO, he takes unnecessary sacks that risk injury.

That's why you draft a line to protect him and why tackles are so valued in the draft. If he had the league's worst snap to release time, you could make an argument the line wouldn't help, but being in the Top 10 of that stat alone let's you know it's his protection. Look at Joe Burrow for instance and how he has been injured and how his stats have tailed off under a bad offensive line. I don't think Tua is fragile, I just think he rushed a comeback or two in college. I'd say unfortunate is the better word.

I've had a concussion and a back issue....back issue I didnt stumble around like a River Walk drunk...just saying.

To be clear, I don’t mean Tua’s a wimp. He can’t help it that his body’s fragile. Compare his injury history with Jalen’s as an example. Right now … if it was your money on the line … which one would you make your franchise QB?

Well one is a dual threat and one is a pocket passer, so you have different body types. If Jalen wasn't so strong in his lower body which he built to run his dad's offense (and competitive weight lifting), I don't think he likely takes the hits he does without getting injured. Same difference in a possession receiver versus a speed guy. AJ Green and Julio are always compared, but AJ green would get destroyed going over the middle and he has, but Julio can go over the middle and withstand the contact due to body type and style/position of play. Doesn't make what AJ Green was able to do any less than Julio, just two different guys that had two different body types and were forced to play the game differently.

If it was my money, I'm building a team around a guy that can sling the ball and lead a team from a high character standpoint. You go draft offensive linemen to help the guy that can drive your team up and down the field. The accuracy and touch he showed last night before the injury was amazing, and the same stuff we saw in Tuscaloosa. Tom Brady is protected, Peyton Manning was protected, Aaron Rodgers is protected, all of which likely get destroyed if they weren't, and on the injury list. Christian McCaffrey is a guy that is fragile. He's in a being hit position, built for it, and he cannot stay on the field to save his life. I wouldn't want Baker Mayfield (attitude) running my team, and there are countless others out there that aren't capable of running a team I would own. Tua isn't my first choice, but he's a Top 5 guy to me.
