🏈 🏆 The College Football Playoffs 2025-'26. The final week.

Very true. but it sheds light on what the committee considers important. And this will impact the final rankings.

I will acknowledge that the 1st poll does hold at least some significance for the example mentioned above on a team like Notre Dame, but I also think it was pretty much expected that ND in particular would be a team shown some favor to an extent. As far as what they view important, they'll play by their own rules....

The selection committee ranks the schools based on the members’ evaluation of their performance on the field, using conference championships won, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, and comparison of results against common opponents.

For the most part, things will mirror the old BCS standings, but they will leave room to maneuver things for the final couple of polls. But there's just way too much that's still to happen between now and the final week for me to feel very invested in it.

"Maneuver things." Ha.

I think it was Kevin, but I'm also thinking you were in the conversation as well, that I was talking with before the season about who would show up in the top 25. I remember wondering if we'd see a G5 team. I know if was Boise State in at 25; I think it was around 40 votes that put them there.

I had forgotten about that until this morning. No G5 team in the top 25. "Not very invested?" I get that. How can anyone be invested, knowing, that right now they would be putting an unranked team in the playoffs?

The prices on these tickets would be comparable to 2011 with LSU visiting. A night game against UGA? Good lord.

I don't know if I'd put Oregon over TTU.
I'll take Ole Miss just on offensive minds.
Catholics versus Mormons is just satire waiting to happen. Ya see, chocolate has caffeine...so how can a ...

Wow, we could UGA 3 times. Welcome to the nfl.

Also....since ranking have a large amount of arbitrary....large amount...very large...
there should be an effort to not have rematches in first or second rounds...
Flip #5 n #6 to avoid...#9 n #10.....( we all know this wont be the final seedings...but for argument)

Nobody wants reruns.....

For ugas sake anyway....

Gotta "maneuver " to keep the most conferences in it. They don't want to make it where all SEC teams can win, have to match them against each other to eliminate some.

With the Memphis loss we're now officially into "WTF?"

IF we assume everyone wins out like they are forecasted there's going to be a three way tie in the American. Tulane will be one of the teams at 7-1 and won't see USF or N Tx. So, that means the tie-breakers kick in or who is in their CCG.

I've read over this a bit and from what I discern step one would be who is ranked the highest in the CFP rankings. Now? No one is ranked. So, scratch that for the time being.

That means we're down to style points. Literally, ESPN owns a few of the metrics (SP+ and SOR, as two.) KPI comes into play ...

Score a lot, and score often.

At the end of the Tulane and Memphis game it showed which American teams have the best chance in getting into the CFP. That was USF at 38% Soory I don't remember what the over % were for the rest.
