The Setup
This is the week that Alabama fans have been pointing toward for the past year. When Nick Saban was hired to rebuild the Crimson Tide football team, smart money thought that “the process” would take at least 3 or 4 years. Many, if not most Alabama fans, were resolved to likelihood of a season where Bama would finish just over .500, and the possibility of “7” being almost unavoidable.
What has happened, with the 2008 Alabama football team attaining a #1 ranking and 11-0 record, has exceeded even the most optimistic Tide Fan’s expectations. Couple this with Auburn’s 2008 collapse, and fan expectation for the 2008 Iron Bowl has skyrocketed.
